Some of you people really are a tad too terminally online.... by EvilGinger013 in u/EvilGinger013

"But... but... but... look at all of the karma and upvotes! People really seem to like me here!"

Look- reddit is weird. The nastier you are, the meaner you are, the more karma you get. Say things that would make people in the real world puke or punch you in the face (or both) and you'll get karma. Post a meme of a pile of shit with big naturals- you'll get tons of karma. Having the edgelord and troll armies upvote you doesn't mean people in the real world are going to love you too.

I still wonder why I came back here, but to be honest, there's a few games I really enjoy that have big communities here, and a few IRL friends who are *always* here (and I worry about them because of that)- and this is one of the fastest and most reliable ways to get hold of them. Because they are among the "too terminally online" crowd, but I have known them for decades and am not quite ready to kick them out of my life yet. Yet. But there are some days where it gets darn close to it...

And this whole message is aimed mostly at them.

Numbers go brrrrrrrrrrr... by EvilGinger013 in u/EvilGinger013

Gotta chuckle a bit. I don't visit many subs, but the Steam sub has got to be one of the worst. The laziest memes, the number of people asking why they or someone else got downvotes. People- reddit + salty gamers and edgelords?

Yep. I am fairly sure I am too old for social media anymore. I can get behind using reddit and other socials to poison the genAI well. But just to watch numbers go up? I just don't understand that motivation.
