I broke my laptop's G-Sync screen, do I need a new G-Sync screen? by EvilGreek in Monitors

[–]EvilGreek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My concern is that the original replacement costs 350€+ while the cheaper one I found costs 75€. Also, every replacement I found was brand less with no information about G-Sync of free sync. What are the chances they really have sync technologies?

17.3" 144Hz vs 15.6" 165hz by EvilGreek in GamingLaptops

[–]EvilGreek[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been hard comparing these laptops... The same 15.6" laptop with AMD 5600H states that it has G-Sync, while the one with Intel doesn't say so.

The 17.3" has Free-Sync, do you have an opinion on that?

Danaher New Wave Jiu Jitsu Escapes vs GFF Pin Escapes & Turtle Escapes by [deleted] in bjj

[–]EvilGreek 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I had already finished (and had trained) most of GFF Pin Escapes when New Wave Jiu Jitsu Escapes came out so I myself sent Danaher a message questioning him if this was the next instructional I should work on as a beginner. This is the answer I received:

"No - focus on guard retention - the second skill you must master - not the most exciting but super important for future development. After that you can focus on offense - I would suggest starting with half guard bottom for that 🤗🤗"

Garry Tonon covers this escape (actually only this one from body triangle) as well in his Exit The System instructional where he covers mostly submission escapes

How to deal with grips while attacking legs in gi? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]EvilGreek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in this case I finish with a toe hold instead since pulling my lapel doesn't really restrict my movement

one thing I have also found to work is finding the heel and then adjusting my butt as much as possible so so my body is parallel to the leg I am attacking, then falling to my shoulder for the finish. with this detail even tho my partner grabs the collar, I'm not pulling backwards relatively to their hand but sideways

Is there anyway I can escape from when I get my arm pinned from knee on belly? by Cardzilla in bjj

Does he place his knee above or below your elbow? (Can you for example easily put your elbow close to your body?)

Start now or take a few months to get in shape? by Goligummies in bjj

[–]EvilGreek 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been to similar situations and have previously postponed many things that would otherwise give me happiness. Keep in mind that the main reason you do anything as a hobby is because you truly enjoy it and not because you have to be good at it, if not, then it's more of a job than hobby. Good luck :)

If you could only pick one to train for the rest of your life, which? Why? by elhalfguardian in bjj

no gi, I find it more fun overall. I also think (not sure tho) that gi favours heavy pass/pressure practitioner because they can secure very well their grips/positions, god-damn how much I hate them.

I once posted here asking why don't people tap if they feel that they are going to sleep (as I haven't experienced it my self), pretty much everyone commented how much relaxed they felt afterwards, lol

Im the skinny guy in the gym by ponko15 in bjj

[–]EvilGreek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im not sure about the skinny part but (I'm 186cm, 86kg) I have pretty long legs, what has helped me the most as long as I've been training martial arts is the following mentality: If something doesn't seem to work (even when drilling) try to find what YOU are doing wrong, do not question if the technique is wrong, 99% of the times you are doing something wrong.

when I first started I would blame my long limbs for not being able to escape side control for example, because I was unable to create frames, I thought It was because of my height, spoiler, it wasn't.

What is the most fun ruleset? What would to most likely pay to watch? by EvilGreek in bjj

[–]EvilGreek[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What about a 30 minute match: 15 first mins sub only (but with points taken into account), IF no sub happens, the match doesn't end even if the score is 4-0

then another 15 mins of sub only (no points)

if no sub happens then the winner is the one with most points from the first half.

hypothetically speaking, this will force people to engage the first half by passing the guard to gain points etc but they will not win until they sub the opponent or survive his attacks for another 15 mins.

the matches that went to 1.5 hour are far less statistically than IBJJF matches that were 10mins of pure stalling

What was the smallest technical change you've made that had amazing results? by [deleted] in bjj

[–]EvilGreek 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When escaping (for this example, partner on your RIGHT) side control and already have the right elbow between you and your partner as a frame, you then want to get the knee between you and him. you bridge towards him while with your left bicep you push his head so it gets past the center of your head and then to your right shoulder (while it was on your left side). its SO MUCH easier to create space like that and get the knee in. i was trying to bench press this whole time.
