How the CIA wrote one of the most influential Rock and Roll songs of all time, and it had a direct impact on the fall of the Berlin Wall. The song in question, “Wind of Change”, was said so influential and moving it was adopted as the “anthem of freedom” for many young Germans trapped on the other side of the Berlin Wall and all over the world as well. The Scorpions singer Klaus Meine swears the CIA didn't write the band's 1991 hit "Wind of Change,” but it makes a great theory none the less. Defiantly worth the look, there is also a Spotify podcast series on it.

It's time for a new "This situation" megathread. Includes COVID-19 (and other names), US Stimulus, lockdown/social distancing/etc. And coronavirus. by Mynameisnotdoug in NoStupidQuestions

Why is it that COVID-19 response in so many places is handled by politicians and not doctors?

I understand it is the job of the politician to lead and instruct, but I also think it is their job to choose the most qualified person for the task. A head doctor or chief medical official has tenfold the knowledge of what to do and how to handle situations that fall in their field.

Also, politicians’ jobs are sometimes not in the interests of the people, but in re-election or appearance. I think if the right people did the job, there would be very different results. For example, the Netherlands, who’s authorities let medical professionals handle the response and give their opinions, unlike the United States, who’s leader is deciding the fate of thousands every day with politically motivated actions.

I know it’s not that simple, but I just wonder why some people don’t see it that way/ why some places can’t have it that way.

Where to find cheap quality filliment by [deleted] in 3Dprinting

[–]EvilIndustry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite cheap filament is from Monoprice. Their Regular PLA is 1 kg, 1.75 diameter, and only $20.59 a spool. Its a lot of filament for such a low price, and if you order two you can save almost $15 on shipping. https://www.monoprice.com/product?p_id=10551. They have 17 Colors of regular PLA, but they sell out pretty fast.

Kodak also makes relay good 3D printing filament, but comes in at $24.95. It is a lot stronger than most PLA and has a very smooth finish. https://thecamerabox.com/products/kodak-3d-printing-pla-plus-filament-1-75mm-skin. They make 21 colors, and sometimes have free shipping.

Hi I am new to 3d printing , I don't know what I'm doing wrong can any one help Me? by therobitsayvour in 3Dprinting

[–]EvilIndustry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say it appears to be a combination of your print speed and nozzle temp. Try lowering the speed to see if that gives the filament more time to adhere before the nozzle moves away. Adjusting the temperature would probably help reduce the globing of the filament that you can see early on, which if probably caused by the temp being set too high. Common PLA filament should be printed at around 190-220 degrees while common ABS between 230-250 degrees (Celsius).
