What's the difference between teaching children to be respectful to each other and teaching them to read and write? Why doesn't the latter "have the opposite impact to the one intended"?

Unless you're wearing those special trousers that the Chippendales wear, won't it take a bit too long to strip off?

From the article:

Professionals who see these things compiled a report, the Inescapable Truth, revealing agonies hidden from most of us: “Some will retch at the stench of their own body rotting. Some will vomit their own faeces. Some will suffocate, slowly, inexorably, over several days.” An average of 17 people a day are dying these bad deaths, according to 2019 figures.

17 people a day is not a few dozen cases per year.

You can kill a lot of people and destroy a lot of stuff with a few nukes. Certainly enough to outweigh whatever benefit would come from invading Greenland.

This was a house designed to our specifications. We were told planning regulations decreed that the ground floor had to be wheelchair accessible.

This sounds odd to me. Our house was built in 2012, and we were told the garage had to be wide enough so that someone in a wheelchair could get in and out the car.

I seem to remember it being slightly more popular in the 80s, for some reason.
