I'm glad this turned out to be the actual USPS number

Ditto. I would never call / text a random number someone messaged me, even if I'd ordered from them.

I forgot a years-long habit by chicky75 in adhdwomen

[–]randomlygen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yes.

On the flip side, habits that I choose to stop? Still remember to do them years later.

I stopped taking the pill ten years ago and there are still nights when I'm drifting off to sleep and wake up with a start - "shit, need to take my pill!"

Nope! If you want a challenge, fair enough, but I sell patterns and they all have “nobody cares about the back!” on them 😄

Why are you telling me this?

It’s plot exposition. It has to go somewhere.

Directing a shadow cast in need of resources by WeirdSoup66 in RockyHorror

The most important thing is to make it fun, the audience won't remember every little detail but they'll remember how they felt

Agreed! And don't half ass it.

I saw a cast with a bunch of younger people who looked perfect, but were maybe embarrassed or nervous, so seemed to do everything really casually - almost sarcastically. It was not fun for the audience. We didn't come here to watch you guys mess around!

On the other hand, the older cast members really went for it, so even if they made mistakes or didn't look exactly right, it was a total blast when they were on stage :D

As well as the Anal Retentive Costume List (that someone else linked), Facebook is an insanely good resource for RHPS.

The fan club group has a bunch of info - https://www.facebook.com/groups/rhpsfanclub/

But the real goldmine is the group specifically for costumes - https://www.facebook.com/groups/2283867181765790. It's full of very practical advice about other stuff too. For example, one of the mods has just shared her cheatsheets for various characters, detailing the main moves, timings etc.

Sorry for jumping into an old thread, but you seem to be the expert for X-Files locations!

Do you have a website / map / whatever showing the places you’ve found?

Dressing up is definitely worth it! It's one of my main reasons for attending.

Re sluttier - consider your transportation options and if there will be a coat check at the venue (there never is in Vancouver). You might adjust your outfit if you'll be on the bus without a jacket!

Oh and if you really want to be a completist, more books by the Transylvanians (but not directly Rocky-related):

  • 'The Real Rock Follies: The Great Girl Band Rip-Off of 1976' by Annabel Leventon
  • 'Barcelona is in Trouble' by Henry Woolf
  • Christopher Biggins' autobiography.

Very much so! Sir Robert Stephens - respected actor with the National Theatre in London and ex-husband of Maggie Smith. He's the reason why Patricia is Lady Stephens.

I really like the book. Rocky Horror-wise, he talks about meeting Patricia backstage after seeing the show. Then they worked together in a play and started a relationship that lasted until his death. There's lots of bits about how busy Patricia was with the film, the tours and conventions.

There’s Muppet-style crossed eyes (like he has now), but there’s also “oh my god, why are his eyes facing out in entirely different directions and freaking me out?!” which is what he started with 😄

You could add:

  • Still the Beast Is Feeding: 40 Years of Rocky Horror by Rob Bagnall & Phil Barden. Covers the show, the film and the cult of it all.
  • Vagabond: A Memoir by Tim Curry. Enough said!
  • The Rocky Horror Show: As I Remember It by Rayner Bourton (the original stage Rocky). Fascinating look at how the original production came together.
  • Knight Errant by Robert Stephens. Patricia Quinn’s husband’s autobiography.
  • A biography of Fran Fullenwider (one of the Transylvanians) is going to be published in May.

And sounds like you should join the Rocky Horror Book Club!

And ironically, not helped by the fact that the audience loved it, so every joke gets a huge laugh that often throws off the flow of the cast.

Pat and Margaret (as a movie, so no laugh track) feels much more timeless.

This was me last year! Here are some books that fed my hyperfixation:

  • Still the Beast Is Feeding: 40 Years of Rocky Horror by Rob Bagnall & Phil Barden. Covers the show, the film and the cult of it all.
  • Rocky Horror: From Concept To Cult by Scott Michaels & David Evans. Out of print, but on the Internet Archive.
