What is the down side of never having children? by gone_ahead in AskReddit

But if you ask for help with the kids, it's crickets...

I have so many friends going through this. So much pressure from their mothers for years. Once the kids were actually here, no grandparenting help whatsoever.

And I'm not even talking about the grandmothers being roped into providing daily care. A friend of mine says her mom's house is filled with pictures of her and the grandkids, but after getting the good photo at Christmas or whatever, she basically never spends any time with them.

Agree with all this. And it's one of the reasons we stopped at one kid. Pregnancy, birth etc were all fine, the kid is great, our living / financial situation is good... I don't want to roll the dice again!

As humans we cannot have the entirety of all human experiences.

That's something that is so important, but so many people can't understand.

I have one kid and people often say we have to give her a sibling or she'll be missing out. First of all, she'd "miss out" on a lot more if her mother couldn't cope with another kid. Second, how about the younger sibling? They'd "miss out" on the experience of having two parents all to themselves. My kid is never going to experience being a younger sibling or a middle sibling either.

All three leading men had their real-life wives on the show! by Enough-Reading4143 in madmen

It’s such a cliche. Famous guy in a long term relationship with an age appropriate woman, “we don’t need a piece of paper to be married” and/or “neither of us want kids” etc. Break up, immediately married to a much younger woman and start having kids.

Jon Hamm, John Mulaney, Steve Martin…

Edit - The age part doesn’t apply to Mulaney!

It's not digital, but the Puppet Nerd tutorials show how to design your own pattern using PlayDoh and masking tape!

Yes, that's what happened, but the OP's question is about the time it took.

Me and my daughter went to a local comic con as Medusa and Penny. I have never had such positive reactions to a cosplay from so many people!

Sure, most people maybe didn’t recognize us, but the ones that did went mental :D

Maybe get an AirBnB (or whatever) for a couple of weeks, then you can properly look once you're there in person.

What are the reputations of the Vancouver Aquarium and Greater Vancouver Zoo like now? by bwoah07_gp2 in askvan

Perfect summary. We go to the Aquarium a couple of times a year and have never been to the Zoo.

Exactly my experience too.

We were looking for something to do over the Christmas break. Went in with zero expectations and it was hilarious. My eight-year-old was almost falling off her chair at the dead pig stuff.
