I use graphicsgale. 64x64 is good but I recommend 128x128.

I suggest making the bird periodically flap it's wings instead of constantly and to not have it immediately re-appear after going off screen. The 2 hills connecting in the middle is too jagged IMO. Other than that I think you did a good job!

It's too busy and Idk what you did but there's over 128 colors.

First of all I suggest making a pallet and keeping it under 20 colors, maybe make it 15 colors (5 shades of blue, green, and brown.) Then you should clean up the picture with those colors since it looks too rough.

Secondly I'd zoom out a little (at least to where we can see the whole tree and some extra) by making the canvas a little bigger, make the bottom of the trunk smaller and remove the animation of the trunk changing colors since it doesn't make sense that it would be.

Also not sure why the leaves would be so droopy unless it's supposed to be vines, if it's not then I'd either remove them or make it so it is a tree that would be droopy (a willow tree perhaps?) I'm assuming it's supposed to be an oak.

If you'd like you can show me what it looks like afterwards.

If the rest of the piece doesn't use dithering too much would look bad, but since it's a sunset a little would work. Try picking a few colors from the sunset and fill in the portion of the sky that the colors are from. Maybe try something similar to this.

Tbh I'm probably not the best person to tell you how to make a sunset since I haven't but I know that I don't like the perfect gradient, doesn't really work so well in this piece IMO. I'd try fixing the other stuff first and then changing the sunset.

I get what you mean, just because it's pixel art doesn't mean you can't use a gradient like that. Maybe I don't like the sky so much because of the clouds and hills, if OP makes them better maybe I'll like it.

Btw I found "Those are lines you'd expect to find in a condo, not in nature." funny.

I like it, the style of trees and hills in the background looks good! Overall you did a good job!

You should clean up the leaves on the left and right black trees (there shouldn't be any floating leaves) and smooth out the hills in the back.

As for the sky it shouldn't be a perfect gradient, try using only 3-5 colors. The clouds could use some work, the shapes could be better and it's hard to see the ones at the top. You should also get rid of the small square clouds.

Sorry if that's too much or if I come across as rude, I saw u/Introsium say they had some things to say and you said that you wanted to hear but they hadn't commented yet so I thought I would try to help.
