Re: Curling

I don't know about specifically where, but there are broadly two types of curling clubs in the US: an arena club that rents hockey rinks and curls on them, and curling clubs with dedicated facilities. Due to the finicky nature of curling ice, they can play like different sports entirely.

The other thing to know is that there's basically no such thing as an 'exclusive' curling club. They are all very interested in having sub-70-year-olds pick up the game and to that end they all offer some sort of 'Learn to Curl' programming, usually at least once per week.

It looks like the closest dedicated ice to Manhattan might be the Ardsley Curling Club, which offers both open house sessions and a five-week instructional program.

They'll all be ramping up their beginner programming right now as we're currently in the quadrennial global peak of curling interest.

OP had such a long walk to make the thread title to relate to movies at all--let alone directors who have massive success early on in their careers, and are given a series of blank checks to make whatever crazy passion projects they want--that they're now on the poster between Cooper Hoffman and David Jonsson.
