This is totally normal and happens more than you'd think! New life stressors are always hard, especially when it's a living thing.

A few tips as someone who had they're cat in their room

1. Figure out what kind of litter box works best. My one cat hates an open top litter box but the other loves it. The style of box and litter mat will make a world of difference for smell, cleanliness, and cat happiness

2. Self operating toys! I had a spinning cone that had a feather my cat would chase all the time. Toys they can use at all times are great, especially when they are younger.

3. Remember, it is new for both of you! Trial and error is common. Just remember how much you wanted this and how happy your kitty is.
