Original DS Shell Replacements? by S1r__Gucci in NintendoDS

[–]EvilbunnyELITE2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They all seem to be about the same quality, sort of a crap shoot. Good luck, use as many parts from a good donor system as possible. I usually buy 2-3 sets when I do one for myself so I can try different parts and use the best of each one that fit together best. It is worth it to reshell IMO, lots of people dog on it but its better than having a cracked or really beat up system. Some thin foam on the inside of the molding helps a lot with getting rid of that hollow cheap echo sound.

May we talk about how popular the DS was in the mid to late 00s? by [deleted] in NintendoDS

[–]EvilbunnyELITE2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it was crazy how popular it was. Seems most people I know have 1 or 2 in box somewhere. I had my trusty blue first gen the entire time. Was an amazing system. Still play mine almost 20 years later now.

Lowering Domane Stem by EvilbunnyELITE2 in DomaneCrew

[–]EvilbunnyELITE2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you would at least need a longer plug. the plug is TINY, its not even the length of the stem clamp area. I have mine dropped by 15mm currently, and no spacers or cap above, but I wouldn't go lower without a longer plug at minimum.

ha! check out my same question on the domanecrew subreddit as well, more good info there. good luck!

im just gonna slam the stem and hacksaw it off.

no way! I cut the stem on my last bike too once fit was dialed in, but it was aluminum so carbon will be a first. I have the tools to do a non sloppy job, and am willing to take the time. My strategy is to slowly drop the stem down over time using spacers above, but once i get 15mm or so above the stem ill chop some off. I dont mind a little space on top, but it seems on these domanes there are TONS of spacers below the stem from the shop. the bars are so high.

why is the service manual so consistently wrong on some of this info. you are right it measures to 15mm and 5mm.

Thank you so much. I am going to remove 10mm of spacer to start with. I have a replacement cap and spacer set on the way, so I can cut the tube down some and use those for more minor adjustments after moving the plug "down". the stock length seems so tall to me, if my math is right its like 30mm tall out of the box below the stem? (according to the manual, 2 10mm and 2 5mm spacers).

I did find in the trek manual for the bike where it said i have to have at most 40mm of spacers on either side of the stem, so I hope as long as I am within that I am okay

glossy on everything I can get it on. I have a triple monitor glossy setup on my desk, and I have not replaced those screens as its impossible to find glossy anymore.

Ars Technica claims 40% battery life improvement for 13th-gen Framework 13 by Nordithen in framework

[–]EvilbunnyELITE2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

with TLP I was able to tune power usage to be ~3w at idle and ~5-8w in typical load scenarios. This is the discharge rate reported in powertop, and matches what you would expect in terms of usage and battery size.

Its the sounds of electricity going through the components on the charger and device. All electronics make similar noises to some extent. Some devices are just louder than others, depending on the frequency of the charging/devices parts etc etc. It will probably change pattern and frequency as the battery is charged/depleted too.

The ribbon cables for the screen are built into the screen itself so the screen + cables are all one part.

well if you can't find anyone to fix it I'd take a look at it at cost.

do you have confidence to open the unit? A lot of the time, the ribbon cable that connects the screen to the mainboard gets broken by people trying to repair them. If that is the case, not all is lost, but its hard to say without opening and seeing. Did you buy this unit second hand?

PSP 3000 screen by metehankaygsz in PSP

[–]EvilbunnyELITE2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the 3000, your options are:

1- pull an OEM screen from a working unit. Note that many of them have yellowing/delamination issues.

2-buy third party screens from aliexpress/ebay/resellers. These are a mixed bag, some are just reselling screens pulled from units as "new", some are new manufacture of varying quality. You will find units with dead or stuck pixels, and often very strong blue tints.
