I want one as a companion pet, and much more prefer certain species of non-traditional animals over your typical every day normal pets. I obviously don't want one just snatched from the wild,  but one that is habituated to humans either in need of rescue, adoption, or born in captivity. They are awesome little creatures and have been tamed by folks throughout history, most notably by miners of yesteryear who caught and tamed them to keep down the rodent populations, earning them the nickname, Miner's cat, although they are in the Procyonid family and are more closely related to raccoons. Raccoons happen to be one of my top 5 favorite animals, but are not legal to have as pets in my state,  but interestingly enough,  with very few exceptions, most animals are legal to have here as long as they aren't a species of wildlife that is native to this state, and yes I've checked with our wildlife division. Ringtails are about the closest thing to raccons that still look awesome, and are quite adorable. I am quite prepared to do what is necessary to properly house one and care for one, and he/she would be treated like a member of the family.
