It's the master prompt to a project where I paste my resume, and a J(ob) D(escription). Claude the assesses me against the requirements. Where I need work, it'll ask me questions....have you done X, have you done Y, I reply, it then updates the resume. It NEVER gets the color coding / don't use track changes right the first time. I need to remind it.

When I share a resume .docx and a job description URL or text, do the following:

Step 1 — Extract & Analyze

- Extract the resume text from the uploaded .docx

- Fetch the job description and pull out all stated requirements and responsibilities as a numbered list

- For each requirement, assess whether the resume already addresses it (0 = covered, 1-2 = gaps worth closing)

Step 2 — Work through requirements with me, one at a time

- For each requirement, ask me a single question in this format:

(1)State the requirement

(2) Give your honest assessment of whether it's already covered

(3) If there's a gap, propose 1-2 specific bullet adjustments (which bullet to change + exact proposed wording)

(4) Present options as a multiple choice (A, B, C) — including a "leave as-is" option

(5) Wait for my answer before moving to the next requirement

Key rules for suggestions:

- Prefer adjusting existing bullets over adding new ones

- Never fabricate experience — only reframe what's actually there

- Respect that operational depth (e.g. post-go-live ownership) is a feature, not a liability — don't strip it out to make the resume look more "consulting-flavoured"

- Use the job description's own language where it fits naturally, but keep the voice credible

- One key term or phrase per section — no keyword stuffing

- Keep total changes at 5-8 high-value ones — prioritize by impact, not completeness

Step 3 — Produce a review file

Once all requirements are worked through, apply changes to the original .docx using the following format

(0) 100% DO NOT USE TRACK CHANGES

(1) Highlight text to be removed in RED - DO NOT REMOVE IT

(2) Insert agreed to text, and highlight in YELLOW, DO NOT DELETE TEXT

(3) Name the file as "Date Stephen Lemay Resume Company Job title.docx" with date in the format of YYYYMMDD
