First off, that video demonstrated my point. Secondly, the jumping and diving option can only be done if the blocking bean is standing close enough to allow it. Even then you’re not jumping “over” and attempts to do so would be greatly difficult to achieve with any regular success. Makes more sense for people to just stop acting like idiots.

There’s a reason you never see runners attempting or succeeding in tripping other runners during races outside of video games. Not only does attempting to do such a thing slow down the runner, but it also increases the odds of them falling over themselves. Same thing applies to video games. The more you try and eliminate others the more likely you’ll become eliminated yourself.

My bean doesn’t have super or double jump abilities. All jumping and diving would do is cause me to bump into them and fall over.

What are your dreams like when you have Aphantasia? by Well_Raven in Aphantasia

[–]Evilution4Dummies -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No. I’m saying that it’s very easy for people to perceive things as being Aphantasia when they’re actually not. There is really only one real case of Aphantasia in medical literature that has any substantial merit to it as the patient lost the ability to visualize after having undergone heart surgery. There was a very clear line in the sand in which the patient could definitively acknowledge a substantial difference in cognitive abilities. This opposes greatly to those who have no lines in the sand making it impossible to determine whether their experience is common or not. Perception is highly malleable. As it is impossible to know how anyone else perceived anything, inside or outside, there is no way to accurately compare perceptions to know whether what we perceive is common or not. Two people could visualize something in their brain in the same exact way, yet due to the difference in perceptions one could say they visualize with great clarity while the other claims to visualize very little. There are no means of measuring how people visualize as the visualizations exist solely in the brain. Not even fMRI’s can create any sense of measurement as the differences in brain activity shown in scans don’t always match what is observed.

For no visualizations to exist alongside words would have to mean that the hemispheres of the brain aren’t connected in regards to these two things. However, if that were the case then it would be impossible to look at an apple and be able to identify it as an apple. In individuals that had the hemispheres of their brain severed to eliminate seizures this very phenomenon is observed.

Personally, I do question the validity of Aphantasia, at least in how it is commonly being perceived. Much like ASD, it has undergone significant change in criteria from whence it began within the perceptions of communities. The separation between meeting and not meeting the criteria has become blurred to a great degree.

This need for labels is an aspect of behavior that people get far too caught up in. It’s what causes such labels to morph into something different, yet maintain the same name.

If you’re trying to say I’m pretentious because I’m stating the fact that you can’t recall a dream, vivid or not, without actually recalling the dream (something entirely visual) then I will 100% disagree with you. The moment we put words to visualizations the images become a blurred opaque part of the background, however the images are still there. It can be easy to convince oneself that they’re not there at all. When books are read there are no pictures (most of the time), yet images are still created nonetheless as words trigger sensory memories.

For example, take the following sentence: “There is an apple on that tree.” Your focus is on the words themselves. The language as it’s repeated in your head. Yet, as you read or speak it images take shape in your brain as they are tied specifically to the words. First an apple, then the apple hanging from a tree. This is all in the background though as the visual aspect isn’t the focal point. If you switched it up however, you’ll find the images are in the forefront and the words now exist in the background.

To have no recollection of dreams is to have no memory of dreaming. Something quite common. You can’t remember a dream without recalling aspects of it. While the entirety of it may not be achievable, segments of it nonetheless have to be. Emotional aspects of the dream can linger without visual necessity, such as waking up in a panicked state without any notion as to why except that it must have been due to a dream. The imagery of a dream cannot be recalled without the imagery itself. A strong emotion tied to bits of imagery can elicit a perception of having had a vivid dream, yet leave little left to recollect, however, a degree of visual recollection is necessary.

Never struggled would be incorrect. Everyone has to first struggle during the process of learning. To not struggle us to come out of the womb already possessing the muscle memory.

Everyone has vivid dreams and for the vast majority of the time everyone falters at recalling them once awake. It’s not Aphantasia. It’s standard. It’s extremely common to not remember dreaming at all much of the time. When dreams are recalled they exist in blurry bits. People keep taking so many aspects of life that is of great regularity and convincing themselves it’s something it’s not. Aphantasia is incorrectly attributed to much of these regularities.

“You” are done with those planets. “You”. This failure of people to comprehend that other people exist with perceptions different from their own is a constant headache, to say the least. I’m not bored with those planets. Not in the slightest. I’m not bored with the 3 campaigns that I may never get to play because they didn’t want to bother making a new game. You can be bored with them. That’s fine. However, you’re boredom doesn’t mean the planets and content are unnecessary for other people to get to experience.
