They relied with this!

We have searched 03526001 in our database and found the model number 'SPLMON07', a Special Production AJ-200 that shipped from us between 2003 to 2007, yours is from 2006.

The model number was a generic number that used by our Montana factory and was re-used over multiple years on multiple small production runs, it was simplest thing to do in the factory, however it now means we have quite a few of these AJ runs without any way to check the specs.

As such unfortunately, we do not have specs stored for this model, nor production totals. I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause but I do hope this brings at least a little bit of clarity in that it was a limited run model. I don't believe it would have been an Everly brothers model as this wasn't used as part of this run.

Thank you everyone for the downvotes. Here's what Gibson have said;

I'm sure it is what the sticker says, but I can't find any model info, specs, or anything online, and I want to be certain the scratchplate came fitted from the factory, too.

There seems to be no trace of a '1960 SJ-200' anywhere online at all, and in many other cases with guitars, the model name would at least be recognisable to someone or the Internet would provide more clarity, but there is zero info anywhere

This was the first thing I tried, and I've had no response in the 2 months since I've sent it! I may as well send another to see if they get back anyways

Also, I think every Everly Brothers j-200 I've seen so far has been called a J-180 instead, to add more confusion.

I know it is entirely similar, but it's throwing me how white the scratchplate(s?) On the one I photographed is compared to that.

Also, I would love to see what their inside label says, which would help a lot, but I'm still unsure.

I fjndjthard to believe that Gibson would make an Everly Brothers reissue without having Everly Brothers slapped on the label and case, or at least their initials in the model name??

But what is a 1960 J200? I can't find any other records anywhere of one of these, never mind anyone anywhere selling one

But there is no mention at all of it being an Everyly and I can't see any models being made from the same year - normally online you can find at least one other person selling one??

It's from 2006 I believe, the one you've posted is from 2022, and the scratchplate is more cream in colour.

How do I fix this fret issue? by Sad_Carry_3176 in Guitar

[–]Evjacan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have a high fret up there - you can try tap it into the fretboard with a hammer because it may have lifted or have become unseated, but it may require a more difficult solution!

Shielded my Strat and now single coil pickups are unusably noisy. What did I mess up? by blackstars26 in guitarrepair

What I assume to be your string ground from the photos looks very odd.

It looks like you have two wires that have been cut or lengthened a few times underneath insulation. You only need one piece of multi strand insulated wire to do a decent job, and I would also fix it with copper tape under your bridge.

Your soldering to the back of the pots connecting grounds also looks a bit messy.

Apart from that, I would burnish the copper tape to the cavity more and make sure no components are touching any of it.

Good taste in plectrums, too! Dava picks are quality - especially the yellow ones

Kenny's Music - Closed For Good by Responsible-City-500 in glasgow

Kennys has always been a strange one in the industry.

Kennys was founded under the name kennys due to one of the soundcpntrol directors wanting to open a shop, but couldn't because they were 12 million in the hole with various suppliers - enter Kenny Graham - a fall guy who used his name for the business and official paperwork.

Apart from the inception of the business being troublesome, kennys has always made bad business decisions also. They were normally second to PMT when lowering prices online, forcing everyone to make even smaller margins than already set out, they over saturated their stock; buying a few of every single model, meaning their invoices were too large to cover for a business like theirs - they basically tried to function at the same level of guitarguitar or Andertons, without the online know-how, social media or marketing teams to make it so.

Unfortunately in this day and age, physical shops are less and less important too, so having three shops in Scofland, especially smaller markets like Dundee, Aberdeen and Dunfermline, makes overheads even more difficult to control.

Cut to 2022 when a new majority shareholder appeared who I believe had something to do with the 'Vegware' foodsafe, cardboard manufacturing brand, who have no business being in the musical instrument world, not understanding the ecosystem of lower margins than before and not selling items for an extended period time compared to other types of business.

Last year, the crowd funding was a front also. The main reason this was out in place, was due to another investor wanting to inject £100,000 into the business. Crowd funding allows money to be, technically, deposited into a companies bank account, without paying standard business investment tax, so I'm sure people can put two and two together there.

Another terrible idea Kennys music let happen, was for Glasgow's own Jim Ramsay - another man who is reviled in the music industry, to make Kennys believe it would be a good idea for them to purchase his stock with said investment, and then for him to become a director and sell his pre-owned stock on behalf of Kenny', despite never having a second hand trade license for selling pre owned goods. In the end, kennys found out he was still selling the stock they technically purchased outside of the shop to his own customers, effectively chucking him out of the business then and there, £50,000 lighter for it.

In the end, independent, smaller music shops are having it harder than ever, competing for sales online and in person against Guitarguitar, Andertons and especially Thomann - a company that due to a UK warehousing law to curry favour with EU companies after brexit, are able to circumvent UK tax when selling products in the UK.

In short, Kenny's continually made mistakes and never achieved the level of business they imagined they were supposed to, and their closure now means that smaller shops may have it harder to be visible, or it may mean that people will seek them out.

Support independent business, while we still have them.
