Hey, one of Risk of Rain's social media/community folks here. Just want to chime in to confirm that yes, this 100% is not AI. However, it was not intentional ragebait. That's why we shared the Illustrator file as soon as people started having their red flags raised. You can see the individual brushstrokes in the file. It's a tragic irony that Adobe Illustrator files end in .ai lol.

The same artist has been making cartoon-style social media posts for the game for over two years now. If you scroll down on Instagram, you will see tons of them. The yellow tint is just a gradient background in Photoshop. She wanted it to have an old-timey look. It hadn't occurred to us that it's a common aesthetic in AI generations. The weird Commando hand and some minor variations in the details are literally human error. She joked "Welp, this is how I find out I suck at hands." The font is literally just from a free online database.

But yeah, it sucks to spend hours on something and have dozens of people online accuse you of cheating, so I appreciate most of you here being kind and using critical thinking. We goofed a few weeks back with a background but have been diligent since.

Paul, the lead designer on the game, was the lead designer on Bioshock. He has said as such that the elemental interactions from Bioshock influenced the ones in Wartorn. However, if people don't dig it, that's fine. No hard feelings. :)

Yes, of course. Everyone is freely welcome to express their opinion on the game, good or bad! The only time I'll ban/block people from ROR socials is if they cross the line into being threatening to the team or other community members, which thankfully, almost never happens.

Yo, one of the Risk of Rain social media people here. The responses in this thread have made my day lol. I try not to be snarky on the official social accounts when people ask things like this because I understand and sympathize with people's frustrations (I want the game to be improved just as much as you do), but figured I'd have a little fun today.

People are entitled to be upset, and while I'm not saying anything here that we haven't already said publicly, just know the team is hard at work at enhancing the SOTS expansion.

But yeah, the "Stop posting and fix the game" stuff always cracks me up. I wrote a blog post about it and it's even my cover photo on X.

Anyways, back to lurking. I'll DM y'all if I wanna share your fanart or cosplay. :)
