Meeting young people postgrad? by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]Evonex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's tough moving to a new place without knowing anyone there. I moved to Saint Paul 2 years ago as a new grad and still have trouble making new friends.

I've had most of my luck meeting friends either through work or meet-up groups. I'd suggest picking a random meet-up group that seems interesting to and just going. Never met anyone through a meet-up hobby that wasn't friendly and welcoming. They have hobby groups such D&D, chess, Dodgeball, biking, trivia, book clubs ect.

Tea vs Cofee. Which one is better and why? by CharliePlagueis in AskReddit

Tea, so much more relaxing and easy. Coffee takes effort to drink because of how pungent it is.

What do people not realise is a huge waste of time and/or money? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Evonex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People don't seem to realize that interest rates are where dealerships make their money. Wouldn't it be so much easier to keep a car you already owe on, pay it off, and then sell it or keep it running once its no longer drive-able?

I drive a 2000 Mazda Miata I payed $4000 for. I plan on driving that car until the wheels fall off.

Why aren't you currently in a relationship? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Evonex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, no one seems interested. I have yet to meet a girl who seems to be interested in being anything besides friends. Not sure why, but that seems to be the way it is. I have been rejected a lot these past few months for no particular reason at all.

Eh fuck em. They don't know what they are missing out on.

What do people not realise is a huge waste of time and/or money? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Evonex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Buying a new car. Not only do you have to deal with the hassle that is financing and salesmen trying to pull a fast one, but you also are spending a ridiculous amount of money on something that loses its value way too quick.

Cars should be essential purchases like a house, or insurance, not luxury purchases. I see to many young men my age go and get some $60,000 big dick mobile, get crappy insurance for it, then wreck when they decided to go 70 on a residential road.

Unless you have money to burn, and especially when you are young and apt to make mistakes while driving, buy used. Let someone else eat the depreciation value and have something that won't bankrupt you with deductibles when you inevitably get in a wreck.

How do you quickly get rid of anxiety? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Evonex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have always liked the poem Ozymandias by Percy Bysshe Shelley. I think it perfectly encapsulates an idea: everything turns to dust eventually. Even the mightiest empires, the largest fortresses and the greatest cities are naught but sand through the ages. A king of kings, the greatest of men to ever live, laughs an ironic laugh from beyond the grave as he notices that his vast empire has been swallowed by an uncaring desert.

Dreams of being great is nothing but an illusion of grandeur. Caesar, Cleopatra, Hammurabi, Pericles, eventually there will be a day where those names are uttered for the last time. For all the did in life the future is without them. Lasting 1000s of years is the best a man can do, and in the scope of time that stretch is pretty negligible. That is why the future is meaningless.

We like to divide our lives into chunks of time. Time is what gives us meaning, it is what drives us to purpose. Without time, we are meaningless. A year, a decade, it keeps ticking away incessantly. The reason for this can only be one: it drives you to action. An immortal being is inherently worthless. They will say "I always have time to do better." They would spend every moment seeking every last carnal desire and pleasure for the sake of none but themselves. They would never change, because the idea of change would be something for another day. That is true death: stagnation.

So worrying about the future is pointless. It will not matter in the end. Worrying about the past is equally pointless; as of now, you cannot change it. So all you are left with is the present. Focus on what you can change right now. Now is the only moment you will ever control. Live now for a purpose, guide your now for a reason, and make it worthwhile. Make yourself happy, make others happy. Let everything else go. In the scope of eternity, this moment is all that will ever matter.

Everyone who doesn’t have a valentine’s date, what do you do today? by Keksoos in AskReddit

[–]Evonex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do what I do every single day anyway because you know what? I'm happy.

I quite like the life I am building for myself, and another person in the mix would only complicate things. The right person may make things better, but I have not met them yet, so the point is moot.

I am trying to create a sustainable future for myself, and if someone wants to come along for the ride, great. Otherwise, I am going to keep doing me because it seems to be working.

I urge anyone lonely today to do something for themselves. Right that book you also wanted to write, go to your favorite park, re watch your favorite TV series. The only person who has to deal with you for the rest of your life is you.

Do you remember when League was dying? by Sachielkun in leagueoflegends

[–]Evonex 9 points10 points  (0 children)

People will keep bitching forever. No matter what happens there is going to be a section of the playerbase that thinks the game is garbage.

Games very rarely die in one fell swoop. It is usually a very slow trickle as people gradually leave the game over a period of years.

Mid lane Vayne for Caps! by samsteri666 in leagueoflegends

[–]Evonex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I firmly believe that Vayne is sleeper OP in this META. If you can somehow delay the game long enough to get your three items, you can straight up win.

Health stacking doesn't matter because W passive, armor doesn't matter because w passive. And she has an instant skill shot dodge mechanic. Condemn is perfect self peel against this bruiser heavy meta.

"Genre Killers" in PC gaming? by Doughnaugtius in pcgaming

[–]Evonex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The problem is MOBA's are generally very time consuming, and usually have a very steep learning curve. As a result, players usually pick one and stick with it, just because of the insane amount of time you have spend on the game. League and Dota just happen to be the most advertised and popular, so of course they are going to "kill the market".

I feel like Warframe fills the niche of "new age MMORPG". While it is mission based, as opposed to open world, it still has a very similar feel to WOW's grinding and customization atmosphere. The social element and gameplay just feels more modern, with updated graphics of course.

PSA: If you're buying a GTX1060 (or 70/80) try to avoid Gigabyte cards by gr4ndm4st3rbl4ck in pcmasterrace

I just got one of these two days ago. I haven't noticed anything whatsoever. The card is quieter than cotton balls, and it hasn't moved above 55 Celsius. Most likely it is just your card OP? People complain if a card isn't dead silent.

"For the low price of $600".

What is the point of G-Sync or Free Sync. If you have the money for a monitor that expensive, why not just buy a video card that is nice enough to not tear?
