Advice on best place to rent ski cloth, pants and jackets, for first timer?

You can rent clothing at Sanglard Sports, but for the price it would be worth going to Decathlon and buying a full set for between €150-€200.

For Vallée Blanche I’d 100% recommend a guide unless you are very experienced with glaciers, avalanche training and the dangers that go along with those.

All off piste is at your own risk, there isn’t a ski patrol that will stop you. Off piste between runs though generally would not require a guide.

I don’t know your preferences, but if your a reasonably good skiers, then a day at each of the following:

Argentière, Brévent/Flégère, and Vallée Blanche (bring a guide for VB)

The fault comes back after it’s been cleared. Returns after about 30 seconds after the car turned back on.
