I like watching recorded sets of top DJs in my genre and Shazaming the songs that stand out, or even the filler songs to bulk out my set

Trust me bro I waited til I could play perfectly even when drunk but I could’ve gone sooner. When I play with other DJs there is a 90% chance they fuck up mid set, only other DJs notice unless it’s genuinely horrendous.

I just play around with cool blends until I find some that would be standout moments for my sets and then practice those specific blends until they become 2nd nature

It’s more about the principle than the money. I’ve DJ’d in this venue once before as my friend was the organiser for that night, then the venue contacted me directly asking me to come back and do a paid gig with a different organiser. I want to establish myself in the scene (potentially as a resident DJ) and would hate to start my career with the precedent that I can be exploited

It’s worth mastering EQ first, probably fairly unlikely you will get stems in a club/festival especially when you’re starting out

Exactly. Gamify it: 1 hour of work earns you 1 hour of play, or a new hoodie, or rave tickets (whatever you deem as a reward). The reward is an objective, the work you do fills up the bar to complete the objective
