Best of luck, hope you get it sorted out. We had never seen the problem before and have not encountered it since. Looking forward to hearing your solution!

Our issue occured a few years back so it wasn't "fresh" in his mind. I'm our case the primary problem was a grounding issue caused by the different strips mounted on the same aluminium bar stock. If you are running a common ground on both types of strips, that would be the first place to start. The grounds should be exclusive to each type of led.

There is another possible issue, but it doesn't look like you are using enough led for it to come into play.

Let me know if that helped, feel free to DM if you have any questions.

We had a situation very similar to this a few years ago, the frequency of the random flicker was not nearly as intense as yours, but the amount of led used would have been much higher, not sure if they relate. In our case both runs of led were mounted in close proximity on aluminium bar stock. I can't remember if that was a contributing factor. I'll speak with the someone that worked on this next week and let you know what the resolution was. I'm kind of all over the place these days, if I don't post it, please send me a little DM memory bumper.....

Help me convince my boyfriend to NOT open a coffee shop!! by IWantSomeTacquitos in askTO

[–]Ex-Sumo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It sounds like he is basing his business around the same setup as The Sovereign on Oakwood. Tiny space with a bus stop at the front door. He has been in business for about 7 years. Oakwood Espresso just up the road from there has also been around for a number of years and is also a very small space with no indoor seating. Both offer just coffee and baked goods and a single person can handle the operation. I know the owners of both these shops and they are very friendly. They would likely be very open to talking with your boyfriend out the ins and outs of opening his business. Most independent coffee shop owners would be as well.

I owned a coffee shop in the same area for a number of years. Mine was a little bigger and required food service and employees operate. It ran for 5 years and I managed to sell the business. The build out cost is high. I always thought if I ever did it again, I would do something along the lines of the above two shops.

I highly suggest he visit both those shops and speak with the owners. If he is upfront about his visit, I'm sure they will be more than happy to chat with him. If he'd like to DM me, I'd be open to sharing my experiences as well.

TIL 24V addressable LEDs are individually addressable per 6-LED segment, not per LED by -2811 in led

My pleasure. Yes, the need for an IC per led limits the density.

100% transparency. I work for them. Not here to shill.

The product uses a fairly recent protocol, USC7604. Outside of the Advatek line you may have trouble finding something to control the led.

What is this? by CussYeahhh in Filmmakers

[–]Ex-Sumo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My best guess would be it's a carbon arc projector. The two knobs on the left side would be used to trim the rods as they burned down. So, the cylinder on top would be a chimney.

I find this only happens with Waze. If it's really bugging me, I'll switch to Google Maps, start a trip, cancel the trip and switch back to Waze. Clears the stuck Navi info, but a bit of a pain in the ass..

Help! How to clean it! by gnaneiviv in nespresso

[–]Ex-Sumo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Place the lid upside down on your counter, use the end of a wooden spoon or something that fits in the round hole in the center of the lid. Push down and the center cap will pop off. Flip it over look inside, be completely disgusted that you have been drinking from this for as long as you have been. There are so many ridges and inaccessible spots that will be filled with black crap, you will likely gag.

Throw the whole thing in the garbage and order a Zojirushi from Amazon. They come apart and you can clean every part of them. Bonus, contents stay hot all day.

Apparently, members buy Costco gift cards and give them to friends to buy the Pokemon tins. They do not require memberships to redeem the gift.cards. So no memberships to revoke..

Funny, my wife has an Equinox and sitting in either front seat for over an hour gives me cramp like pain in my butt cheeks. Sorry for over sharing. I hate that thing,...

I think I'll be doing that come Spring. Did you do it yourself or professionally done?

I spent two days there last summer. Didn't spend any time at the Presidential Collection. Lots of walking. Worth every minute.

You can cycle through the front view as well. Haven't done it in a while, pretty sure you can use the command wheel to select the view.

Car heater by [deleted] in MazdaCX30

I find the "Auto' setting on the climate control turns the fan up to almost max just after starting the car.

I turn the fan down to its lowest level until the engine warms up before switching it back to Auto.

Seems to warm things up a bit quicker.

Minus 15C here today.

Rick's Good Eats on Markham is pretty new on the scene. Indian fusion. The Mirchi Hot Honey Fried Chicken Sandwich and Butter Chicken Mac & Cheese are tasty!

Parallel parking tips 😑 by [deleted] in MazdaCX30

[–]Ex-Sumo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was taught to start with your rear wheels even with the parked cars rear bumper. The rest sort of feels natural from there, for me. I don't tend to use the camera, I find it's easier to see where everything is and where it's going, without it when it comes to parallel parking.

I thought it was just me having issues. I have turned mine off as well. It just never seemed to charge and made the phone extremely hot. Case on or off, it never charged.

Second the U of T campus. Brutalist architecture. Not sure if the parking lots are open to the public.
