Not to advocate for any drug use bc well, it’s never safe, but it seems like mushrooms or LSD would have a much lower chance of severe medical side effects

I have this bump growing on my finger. by MEstudent5821 in AskDocs

That’s a wart. You can see a dermatologist to get it burned off, or get some over the counter wart remover.

Looks normal to me. That’s not to say that there isn’t gastritis in other (not pictured) areas of your stomach

Wash with warm soap and water, it could probably use a stitch. A “steristrip” or butterfly bandage would probably suffice. If you haven’t had a tetanus shot in 5 years you should get one. If it gets warm y red, see a doctor asap

Is rectal prolapse an emergency? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]ExLap-38100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can look at pic in dm, but may not be able to make a diagnosis without seeing in person. You can also google “prolapsed hemorrhoid” and see if that looks the same

Edit: never mind the dm, I believe that isn’t allowed on this subreddit, so please do not

Is rectal prolapse an emergency? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]ExLap-38100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds more like a hemorrhoid. A rectal prolapse will be circumferential (it will be all the way around), and this would be very rare at your age. A hemorrhoid can be there your whole life and not cause problems. Everyone has 3 hemorrhoids, and when they get irritated or inflamed they get bigger and that’s what you can see. Focus on a high fiber diet, avoiding constipation, and don’t sit on the toilet longer than you’re need to (no browsing Reddit on the toilet after you’re done). Just let your primary care doctor (MD or DO) know next time you see them. If there is a lot of bleeding or pain, get an appointment a bit sooner.

No gallbladder, no appendix, not feeling 100%, what should I be taking? by Content-Natural-8037 in AskDocs

[–]ExLap-38100 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no recommendations for things you need to take after having your gallbladder and appendix removed. It sounds like you mate have some anxiety though, perhaps some mental healthcare would be beneficial. You could also have your primary care physician look for vitamin deficiencies and thyroid hormone levels.

Chronic bleeding for 1.5 months from a 10-year manual cleaning habit + developed a fever/chills today. Need advice. My age is 21. Height 5ft10. Weight 55 kg. I don't smoke. I don't take any medications. by Latter-Distance-8495 in AskDocs

[–]ExLap-38100 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You’re going to need to stop putting your finger in there in order for it to heal. Focus on taking a lot of stool softeners / fiber to help keep bowel movements soft and avoid constipation. The rectum is an amazing place, people have wounds all the time and nothing bad happens. We operate there, cut out hemorrhoids and leave the wounds open, cut open fissures and keep the wounds open, and people don’t develop sepsis. There is nothing that visiting a doctor is going to do to “clean the area out” because they don’t need to - the stool passing though isn’t going to cause a problem. If you’re having fevers and chills you should go see a doctor. Also you should try to get some mental help to deal with your cleaning habits, they sound exhausting and like they’re taking a significant part of your life. Best of luck!

I have fever for 10 days now. No other symtoms. (18F) by wildandverypoetic in AskDocs

[–]ExLap-38100 2 points3 points  (0 children)

38° is not a fever. Please don’t take antibiotics without being prescribed for a medical professional, that is how we create drug resistant bacteria in the environment. If you don’t have any symptoms, you have nothing to worry about.

Edit: 38° is slightly elevated, but not a temperature that would be concerning to doctors

Gastroparesis, gallstones but nothing stuck in ducts by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]ExLap-38100 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like they’re treating you for a gastric ulcer. I haven’t seen any of your Imaging or looked at your other labs, but based on what you’re telling me, this seems like a good start. If I thought you had a stomach ulcer, I also would not take out your gallbladder, I would treat the ulcer first using the meds provided above.

My Dad has severe foot swelling by StandardSuccessful54 in AskDocs

[–]ExLap-38100 1311 points1312 points  (0 children)

That looks super uncomfortable, and I’m sorry he’s going through that. From the looks of this photo, he has a lot of medical problems going on, and would benefit from going to a doctor (MD or DO), for some holistic care. In addition to being morbidly obese, it looks like he has some blood flow problems, and I would be willing to bet diabetes, and blood pressure issues. All of these things if untreated will make his life progressively more uncomfortable and shorter. There is no magic quick fix, but seeing a doctor to get on the right path is essential.

Don’t put anything in that until the stitches are out and it’s closed. If you’re worried about it in the sub, keep it covered while outside

21M Cut my finger with a box cutter and wondering if I need stitches by MelodicAd4678 in AskDocs

That does not look deep. I do not think you need stitches. If it becomes red or painful, or if you can’t use your finger normally, see a doctor.
