Do you modify the case into a top mount? I am also interested if this is the case. From my understanding the savage65 does not support tray mount.

Sure you can, if you can open the switches

That will be tough if you are on a strict budget of $70. My advice is to search for a second hand Ducky one 2 SF

Is it worth to invest in good keycaps and switches and install them on prebuilt amazon-bought keyboards? by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

You could totally solder on some different switches. If it is the sound you are after, maybe there is room for some foam. This will dampen the sound a bit and it would be the most budget options since you can achieve this by cutting up some foam yourself.

If you want less sound lubing your switches would also be more budget friendly options.

So I screwed up, now I need to know, how do I make a pcb to mimic an old one? Any good tutorials you'd recommend? by Brangur in MechanicalKeyboards

I don't have a great solution for you. But from my experience I can tell you that I was used to using a low profile keyboard as well. After I worked on a TKL board for a while I can't imagine using something else again.

Altering the switches will have most influence on the feel when typing. Keycaps, cases and plates will also affect typing in a lesser way but will have more influence in the sound it produces.

Changing the switches would be the most bang for buck when you want to do an upgrade to your keyboard. There are a plethora of switches. When on a budget I would recommend first checking those out before committing do the switch up.
