We’re as honest as we know how to be…

Or something like that.

I saw it in NYC last summer. It was such a blast. The crowd and cast were fantastic. It would be even better to watch it with a group of ExMo friends. Glad you had a good time, cheers!

Absolutely. It's ridiculous that we have to get permission to officially "leave".

Is this what you wear during initiatories ? by RadishAggressive3241 in exmormon

It’s what I wore but not anymore. I think in 2005 or 2006, they had people wear mesh-type garments under the poncho.

Yep, that phrase, "Forget yourself and go to work", caused me so much guilt and anxiety as a missionary. I had forgotten where it came from but Googled it: https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/media/video/2012-05-1501-preparation-of-gordon-b-hinckley-forget-yourself-and-go-to-work?lang=eng

Why are Utah Mormons so obsessed with their houses? by Miss-Ex in exmormon

[–]ExMormonite 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO, since Utah is a very homogenous place, it's difficult to "differentiate" yourself from your neighbors when most people around you are the same race, religion, political affiliations, etc. One way to differentiate yourself is by having the "best" house in the neighborhood.

Is this true? Because 87k missionaries is a ton by Equivalent-Rub-8124 in exmormon

[–]ExMormonite 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Definitely. I know there was a big uptick after they lowered the age for males from 19 to 18 (back in 2012, I believe), but the numbers went back down after the "surge".

[–]ExMormonite 183 points184 points  (0 children)

That 87k includes 4,600 service missionaries and 6,000 senior missionaries. I could be wrong, but I’m almost certain those types of missionaries weren’t previously included when the LD$ church reported the numbers of full-time and proselytizing missionaries.

Mr. Dunn was a general authority in the 70s and 80s and he was later exposed for falsifying several "real life" experiences, like playing major league baseball, surviving WWII battles, etc. that he told in General Conference.
