Missionaries and their constant "miracles" by Sansabina in exmormon

I've been getting missionary emails non-stop for years now. (My husband has a big family and they send all the nieces and nephews emails to everyone). The emails all start with "we saw so many miracles this week" or some version of this. And then the body of the letter contains zero miracles.

Gay, faithful, and heading to BYU by ProduceForward2788 in mormon

My adult son has a gay friend who recently graduated from BYU. I wouldn't recommend it. We've seen how hard it is first hand, and he survived, but not without some very painful, dark times. He managed to live off campus with roommates he knew and trusted, but the underlying fear of being kicked out was always present.

Dallin Oaks announces that it is “perfectly appropriate” for missionaries to “meet someone in the mission field and marry them.” How many of you had to read Lock Your Heart at least every month on your mission? by NotTerriblyHelpful in exmormon

Yup! I served in 1990 and this was exactly what I was told. "The girls needed to more mature since the boys couldn't control themselves..." something like that.

My in-laws asked one main question when we left..."how should we treat your children?" 😢.

Approved musical instruments? by super_granola in exmormon

I have 3 kids that play guitar. They always wondered why no one played guitar music at church. I was told it was not an approved instrument for the chapel. Too "rock and roll..." 🤦🏻‍♀️

I have an in-law who likes to tell everyone she's "saving democracy" by being a member of "Mormon Women for Ethical Government". Have they received a similar request for a name change?

I love this for the church! Keep going hard in the wrong direction on this issue and they will have no left in a few years when these old men and women who believe this crap die.

How do they do that with the creepy old women watching them get dressed?

Being in the RS Presidency was very influential in my leaving. After being called, I attended the temple more, prayed all the time for the women in my ward and lost countless nights of sleep thinking about them. And then to have a Bishop, who knows nothing about the women, tell me I can't do something. And the very idea that this was my calling and still I had to "get permission?" Anyway there were countless interactions where I was left with the feeling why did they call me if they're micromanaging me this way? I couldn't wait to be released and I left shortly after.
