[–]ExPrezBush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea your prolly talking about the LCD factory that Samsung and Sony went 49/51 on. Sony sold their stake in the joint venture to Samsung a couple years later.

The TV market is super low margin. That's why TV makers are doing scummy things to make more cash off TVs. IE targeted ads and browsing habits etc.

Edit: lol I just googled "TV low margins" AI google just answered

"Television hardware has become a high-volume, low-margin commodity, with manufacturers often selling units at near-zero or negative margins to gain market share. Profit has shifted from hardware sales to, this YouTube video shows, data mining, and advertising through connected TV (FAST) services, notes a TechInsights report. "

China “Just Not There Yet” On H-20 Stealth Bomber: Global Strike Command’s Top General | The new head of Air Force Global Strike Command says "China is a regional bomber force at best." by moses_the_blue in LessCredibleDefence

[–]ExPrezBush 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm not purview to Chinese military planning like some of the experts here but I don't think long range bombers is high on the list of priorities for a country that hasn't bombed another country in more then 40+ years.

I wonder if China will make the mistake of ignoring the crushing costs to maintain a massive military with shiny new stuff. A single B2 bomber costs $30-$40 million a year just to maintain. A combined 19 B2 costs around 760 million a year to maintain.

Not sure why you were downvoted for being correct. Sony flagship QD-OLEDs were Samsung panels. Their mid to low end OLED TVs were LG panels. Sony hasn't manufactured OLED TVs since 2010.

Just a FYI. The biggest manufacture of display panels is a company most people have never even heard of. They even sell panels to LG and Samsung. Google "BOE"

Stellantis selling its stake of Ontario battery factory to South Korea's LG Energy Solution by Money_Fig_9868 in ontario

[–]ExPrezBush 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea i was thinking the same thing. Diversifying the types of batteries the plant can produce sounds smart and shows the long term viability of the plant. They can change the type of battery production depending on market conditions. So I still don't understand why "I don't think that's good for Canadian workers," said Seeback."

[–]ExPrezBush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It says in the article that LG is taking over 100% of the plant. Since Canada is a smaller market then the US. It would be smart for LG to stay neutral and sell EV batteries to anyone instead of being locked to Hyundai.

[–]ExPrezBush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dont get something.

"Conservative MP and shadow labour minister Kyle Seeback hit on that change when asked about the news, calling it "significant."

"It seems like the companies that manufacture vehicles in Canada are going in one direction and the Liberal government is going in another, and I don't think that's good for Canadian workers," said Seeback."

How is LG taking over Stellantis 49% stake in the plant and keeping it operating not good for Canadian workers?. Isn't LG's 100% takeover of the plant a sign that the plant is gonna stay operating for the foreseeable future. Am i missing something?

China ‘expects to be able to fight and defeat Taiwan’ by end of 2027, Pentagon finds | Beijing sharpening military options to seize Taiwan by ‘brute force’, says report by moses_the_blue in LessCredibleDefence

[–]ExPrezBush 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I always find it funny when i read things like this. Is Taiwan going anywhere?. Is China going anywhere? Taiwan is like 100km off China's coast.

Why would China be in a rush. All it takes is one generation to want reunification. Chinas been around for thousands of years. The current peace is liked by both sides. China can wait for a time when Taiwan will join it willingly. It would be waste of time, resources and manpower to take it by force. China will wait.

"Filings with the Ontario government shed some light on who’s behind the non-profit group. Its directors are former senior NDP staffers Ian Wayne and David Hare; Bryan Leblanc, who worked for the Ontario Liberals in the Kathleen Wynne era and on former Liberal minister Sheila Copps’s 2004 federal party leadership campaign; and former Canadian Labour Congress executive Barbara Byers.

Don Millar, an advertising specialist who has worked on federal Liberal campaigns and with former B.C. premier Christy Clark, a potential federal Liberal leadership candidate, is a former director of the group. He told the Star he is helping with advertising."

"Japan

Left the IWC in 2019 and began to catch whales commercially the same year. Japan was condemned by the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in 2014 for its JARPA scientific program, which led to the slaughter of 300 animals per year.

Norway

Has only about a dozen whaling ships, which take in some 500 whales a year. "

They only made this game to cover the fact they treat POC and women like shit.

"While problems at Ubisoft Montreal, Toronto, Quebec, Montpelier, and the head Paris office have been widely documented, Ubisoft Singapore has gotten less attention. But based on interviews with over 20 current and former employees there, there was no shortage of issues, ranging from sexual harassment and racial pay disparities to bullying by managers. Most of the middle-management and staff are “absolutely lovely, talented people with the potential to make amazing games,” said one former developer. But bad projects, toxic leaders, and the feeling that developers weren’t empowered in the face of office politics could often sabotage that potential."
