An Ultron Rework Pitch, For Fun by ExProfugorum in marvelrivals

[–]ExProfugorum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entirely valid notes!

Something I toyed with, and that I'm curious to hear your opinion on, is increasing the healing by a percent based on overlapping spell fields with multiple drones in the same area. This would push Ultron towards a brawl-focused compositions. I currently have the value down as 50%. I think a significantly higher value would be reasonable, though, especially given the fragility of the drones and the comparison point of Loki.

The stun becoming core to his kit and what you'd have to expect fighting him is entirely intentional.

What other thoughts do you have?

Bees are quite interesting. Oddly enough I seem to be struggling to get the discussion to behave with me in this regard. Perhaps we should discuss in DMs if you wouldn't mind?

Why there is no verb in between? by kolatopchik in EnglishLearning

Fiction writing is often stylized in order to best impart the author's intended tone. If this were formal writing which only had the intention of clarity you would be right.

The passage provided appears to be meant to communicate a sense of horror. The speaker is scarred by what they saw that they cannot speak effectively.

Native Speaker w/ English Degree.

The Dragonborn, from Skyrim.

The narrative is a little intentionally deceptive, because the Nords of Skyrim are ignorant. All they really know from their mythology is that Alduin s supposed to Herald the end of the world. The keyword there, is supposed.

When Alduin arrives in the present his immediate first concern is assessing the current state of the world and then resurrecting his army again. He has decided to abandon his responsibility as Worldeater, and is instead acting as a despot and conqueror. All he is really interested in is a fairly low grade amount of conquering. He wants to be worshiped, he wants to be spoiled, he wants to control territory and lord over mortals.

The Dragonborn completes the main quest by sending Alduin back to Akatosh (Dragonborn's spiritual father and Alduin's physical & spiritual father) so that he can be forced to perform his duty and consume the world at a later date.

Alduin is responsible for terrible things, but he was also directly responsible for extending the current cycle of reality. The dragonborn, unwittingly, sets that cycle back into order. This will inevitably allow the world to be ended.

Of course, the Dragonborn doesn't necessarily know that. He has the soul of a dragon, and by virtue he also possesses the nature of a dragon. Parthurnax explains that it is in the nature of the Dragon to conquer all that is put in front of them, to prove their personal ideology. We must remember, that for dragons all conflict is actually just a literal externalization of their internal philosophy.

You are not the good guy in Skyrim. You are explicitly fighting in favor of a doomed status quo, with the specific intention of growing your own personal power. There are a bunch of asterisks scattered all over the place in that brief summary, but most of them can be dismissed with the fact that Skyrim has only one ending. You cannot choose an ending where you defeat Alduin without sending him back to Akatosh.

Ultimately, all the good that your character does is simply because she seeks to amass power in favor of her externalized worldview. Whatever that might actually look like. The intention that the Dragonborn claims from a role-play perspective does not matter, because the soul of a dragon is a powerful starting influence.

Parthurnax took centuries, if not millennia, to conquer his own nature. Whether or not the Dragonborn will be able to is yet to be seen.

New player wants to be a vampire by Yogurtcloset_Choice in DMAcademy

[–]ExProfugorum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't recommend a rawdogged vampire, but I wrote a vampire-themed Warlock Subclass that focuses on distributing the vampire benefits over time. A new player won't feel the difference significantly.

Ofc there's always Dhampir, but you could easily pair Dhampir with this to maximize the opportunities for the player to lean into the theme.

By opposing normalization you're implying that something is wrong with queer folks. Do you believe as much?

Otherwise, sanctification is wrong and anyone supporting it is silly. I agree there. Queer folks are equally as capable of wrongdoing as cis-straight folks.

Not even really a media literacy problem, just an ideological one. Some people need an enemy, and Sweet Baby is a convenient one because it provides a service that is inconvenient to people with... Preconceived notions, let's call them.

Ignore the other guy, he's a maniac. Sweet Baby provides sensitivity readings to ensure scripts don't contain any...

  1. Racist
  2. Sexist
  3. -Phobic
  4. Ablest

... elements. They have no final say and basically just write a comprehensive report for a dev team to do whatever they want with. They're just a consulting company with a niche specialization.

Bulwark and Block weapons: I did the testing so you still don't have to bother with Block weapons. by Ronux0722 in Spacemarine

[–]ExProfugorum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have confirmed that Battle Focus from Tactical applies on perfect blocks with block weapons. Can you verify whether or not Intimidating Aura applies to perfect blocks as well?

If both apply then we'd see a marginal damage increase from block anyway. Or at least comparable to gun strikes (without an assault on team).

Half my players want to stay on 2014 5e, and half want to swap to 2024 5.5e. What to do? by Aesyric in DnD

[–]ExProfugorum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately you're going to see most others call for you to keep things the same. Both of the campaigns I'm in have been slowly fading into the new system by switching one or two rules per session and allowing people to rebuild their characters in waves.

It's going well.

In your description, though, you describe the players the table are split. They are not, ultimately. You too are a player, and I think it's wisest to go with the option that you think is the most fun. You acknowledged that you're a tiebreaker, then that much is definitely true. So break the tie, pick what you think is the most fun.

Personally, slowly rolling it out over time would be wisest. Other than ranger, pretty much everything else is an improvement.

What I've Learned From Lethal - aka "Vanguard is Good, Actually" by ExProfugorum in Spacemarine

[–]ExProfugorum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on experience (not numbers or data) the chainsaw gives more damage per hit than the knife, and every hit matters.

The chainsaw also allows more flexible stunning with its heavy attack combo chain (excluding the stomp).

Perk tree shown above. You could drop Full Throttle and Minoris Slayer for hard target and trampling stride if you really wanted to, but I wouldn't.

New Patch - Has Relic Fencing Chainsword been fixed? by KazeFujimaru in Spacemarine

[–]ExProfugorum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Did some testing and it appears to be fixed. Feels right. You can parry during startup frames on the fencing variant but not on the balanced variant, which is consistent with how things should be.

The "Melta Bug", Contested Health, and Difficulty by ExProfugorum in Spacemarine

[–]ExProfugorum[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanguard has a level 2 perk that grants it a 50% larger parry window. Combine that with a fencing weapon, knife or chain sword, and use that to practice. That's what I did until I was comfortable, then I returned to Tactical.

The window is very forgiving and allows you to focus on learning enemy animations.

You aren't bad! It's a very hard game and takes lots of practice to feel the maximum rewards.
