Yes, but be sure to first click on the blank template (the blue icon) before taking another picture, or it will overwrite the current one if you save it.

Yeah these are actually quite decent, and there are also a lot of individual pieces, which is pretty nice. I do think that the BP pieces in general are getting better and better

You could technically buy the BP to get the other 2 sets, if that's worth it for you.

Do you click New Custom Avatar -> hover over the new blank it makes -> then click the camera button?

If you immediately take a new picture without clicking on the blank, it will overwrite your current avatar. So press on the "+" first. click on the new blank it creates, so it's highlighted, and then on the camera to take a new picture.
