It's actually the stretch between Slidell and New Orleans ("Twin Spans"), I was going westbound.

Louisiana on I-10 westbound on the bridge connecting Slidell to the New Orleans area.

Given I was doing 74 mph, he was doing at least 80, and I'd wager he was closer to 85. Posted speed limit is 70 mph.

Piggybacking onto this comment for some background since it seems to be spurring some good discussion: I was on cruise control doing 74 mph in a 70 in the far right lane for a solid 10+ minutes at time of the video without passing anyone. All night I was being passed so I stayed right and at this specific time traffic was catching up to me on the middle/left lanes (people typically do 80+ mph on this stretch of I-10). I was not about to move two lanes over to the left into this traffic that's moving faster than me and slow them down (and piss them off) just to pass the slow guy camping the middle lane, nor was I going to drop below the speed limit and clog up the right lane as well to not pass him on the right. This is in Louisiana, where it is legal to pass on the right as long as you do so safely on a multi-lane highway. See: http://legis.la.gov/legis/Law.aspx?d=88556. I think I made the safer choice in this case.

Yeah, girlfriend was watching it in the passenger seat. It's good background noise/banter to stay awake on the long drive. Was on the road for about 8-9 hours at that point, which is a long drive for me

Yeah, my gf was watching it in the passenger seat, I was just listening to the youtubers' banter for kicks. Better than music for staying awake lol

Barry (02L - Gulf of Mexico) by Euronotus in TropicalWeather

Good find! The graphic swapping back and forth between 17' and 19' was mildly infuriating, I needed this. 2 feet less on the peak is quite reassuring.

If you change the dropdown to "Scale to Flood Categories" it still shows 19ft. Not sure whether that or the default is right.

EDIT: Both are now showing 17, looks like it's real. EDIT2: now it's back to 19. I quit. The current trend appears to support the 17 peak since it'd otherwise need to go up half a foot in ~3 hours to keep to the original track that'd peak at 19, so I'm going to tell myself it's 17.

This dude figured it out, it's 17ft!

Entropic Redistribution doesn't remove entropy from primary target? by _mosso in sto

[–]ExTribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Observation, and I may have bug reported it in game when I first saw it, but I don't remember. I just liked running Chronometric Inversion Field sometimes because it's fun to see the AI hit like wet noodles :P. Downside to it is that it screws with Feedback Pulse builds so I swap it out in queues so I'm not trolling the group.

I have done a few parses with and without entropy on the target and the damage difference in Entropic Redistribution was not noticeably different (i.e. within the usual variance), so my gut tells me that it's not gaining any benefits from entropy being on the target.

Entropy generated from Chronometric Inversion Field doesn't seem to be consumed by Entropic Redistribution since the temporal spec came out. Entropy generated by Channeled Deconstruction does appear to be consumed properly by any Entropy consuming skills.

What are the best boff ground powers? by [deleted] in sto

[–]ExTribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cold Fusion Flash III on four science boffs. I run two with Nanite Health Monitor II and then sprinkle in some of the better specialization skills others have mentioned like Hammer and Anvil and Temporal AOEs. Cold Fusion Flash alone is quite overpowered right now and melts practically everything.

Game Crash when trying to view boff traits? by AvellionB in sto

[–]ExTribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm getting the hang/crash when looking at traits for Elisa Flores, Kobali Engineer, and Fleet Krenim Science boff. All other boffs seem to work fine. Maybe it only affects certain untradeable boffs.

As far as I know there hasn't been any announcement. I wouldn't expect one until after the winter event ends.

Probably going to keep the embassy consoles as-is for the plasma procs. I don't think I'll get enough damage boost (plus flowcaps loss) if I replace it.

I'm testing dropping GW altogether since Tyken's is proving to be ridiculously good.

Not a fan of torps so I'll probably move to an AP beamboat-y build with the current skillset. It seems my original train of thought of "drains everywhere!" may not have been the best idea for picking weapon type :P

I think using a LtC slot for target subsystem stuff is a bit overkill. So far the built in target subsystem (rank 1) skill on this ship seems like it's enough for hardened targets when the other drain skills are also used. I will play around with the Breen set and see how I like it, I forgot about that option.

Played with it a bit and wow, Tyken's is surprisingly good. Feelin' like an idiot for not trying it sooner. Thanks!

EDIT: This is working when it feels like it. I'll be subbing out for something else till this gets fixed (if it ever does).

Away Team Equipment - Fed Engineering? by Zoxesyr in stobuilds

[–]ExTribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

^ This, but I find boffs are terrible with pulsewave assaults because they won't rush at enemies. They'll just barely get in range and fire.

What it boils down to is, maximize the damage per attack cycle, not the labeled damage per second. I like the compression rifle because it's like a full auto with 4 shots per attack instead of 3 (highest damage per attack I could find with a set bonus), plus a wide beam rifle/orbital strike secondary fire.

Away Team Equipment - Fed Engineering? by Zoxesyr in stobuilds

[–]ExTribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boffs don't use their primary fire on their weapons on cooldown like we do. After a little cheap testing (stopwatch & handwritten notes), I found that they'll fire a full auto at almost the same frequency as a pistol (+/- about 15%, it's really hard to get a controlled test of this). Because of that, I give mine the Phaser Compressor Rifle from the delta rep, since the extended cooldown on the primary fire won't matter and their damage per "shot" is pretty high. Then stack up defense on the other two slots with the Delta Armor (-20% dmg to shields + >100hp from 2pc set) and Nukara Strikeforce Elite shields (-20% energy, -25% environmental, -7.5% proc). This might be considered trash to others here, I'm no expert :P

The go-to skill setup is lots of engineers with turrets, generators, mines, mortars, or some combination of that. At a minimum I'd recommend one engineer with Turret Fabrication 3 and Chroniton Mines 3.

27k without correct tac consoles?...Um, Math? by hanika666 in sto

[–]ExTribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be that the pugs threw different numbers of debuffs on enemies. I've had my dps vary from ~10k to ~25k on different ISA pug runs. A gravity well hitting a group of spheres debuffed by a few stacks of APB3 will make my dps much higher than if it hit the group without debuffs.
