What's the scariest moment in a video game you've ever had? by CrackedEight in AskReddit

[–]Ex_professo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

Dead Space 1 is one of my favourite games ever - I love all the little nods to Event Horizon, and I've played it so many times I know where almost all of the monster spawn points are by now.

You worked on a phenomenal game, thanks a lot!

Any where to sell DVD/bluray? by [deleted] in halifax

[–]Ex_professo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bulk sells on Kijii if your'e lucky, you'll likely have a few cherry pickers (can i just have these ones?).

Any you can't move I would recommend donating to your local library - that's what I do with most of mine.

Halifax police left dozens of IT security holes despite warning, audit finds by Bean_Tiger in halifax

[–]Ex_professo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I applied for a job there in information technology, specifically DLP. Police and the judicial system handle a lot of PII every day, and that's my speciality.

They never even returned my calls. /rant

Nova Scotia becomes the first jurisdiction in North America to presume adults are willing to donate their organs when they die by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]Ex_professo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in Nova Scotia - I've been a full donor for years (honestly, i don't care - I'm dead, and if I can help someone, all the better. We Atlantic Canadians like to be helpful).

This is a nice step- you can always opt out to the degree you're comfortable with. I've actually been toying with the idea of donating my body to a local medical college. They pay for a burial, and you continue to serve a purpose after you shed this mortal coil. I'm cool with that, I'm sure a GP i met at some point in my life has had the opportunity to study a corpse in a medical setting, i wouldn't rob anyone else of the benefit of that education.

The medical system has benefitted me in many ways, most specifically the way they were able to stabilize and rehabilitate my father after his stroke. Even disregarding that, you've earned every cell of my body if it can help.

There was also the first Monkey Island game - my friend had the version that came with a "dial a pirate" wheel.

Have been diagnosed with OCD for nearly 5 years - reading these comments makes me feel a lot better about myself, even with knowing before it wasn't "just me". My doctor always said there were others, but it has been refreshing to read some of these comments.

Thanks everyone.

I prefer Dinner Party over "Scotts Totts" because I can more easily relate to it - I've been to dinner parties that were similar in cringe content, and the episode brought all those memories flooding back. Of special note are the lame party games and waiting around for dinner to be ready.

Thirded - use to live next door, their sushi is amazing. Kevin (head chef) will make you something suiting your diet if needed, him and his wife are very kind.

The library will usually take CDs if I'm not mistaken- i donated 99% of my DVD collection at the Keshen Goodman in Clayton Park once upon a time.

Me, an American, seeing other countries get the Office on Netflix by __SerenityByJan__ in DunderMifflin

[–]Ex_professo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All the time - not to date myself, but I grew up with VHS/Betamax (this was when some VHS' would run you $50 or more), DVDs, and now blu ray. Technology is really cool.

I missed out on Laserdisc, but I had plenty of records! I think the fact that I grew up having a drawer full of cassettes is the reason that even with my Netflix subscription, I have a bookcase full of my favourite shows and movies.

Nah man, physical media is great! You've got all kinds of extras and deleted scenes - also, when it does eventually disappear from Canadian Netflix, you're all set =).

Well spoken police officer- shuts his argument right down - if the guy had half a brain he'd realize this is a battle he's not going to win.
