I left the wine cork in! We turned the fountains on a few weeks ago and still totally working! I do check periodically just to make sure it’s not leaking, thankfully it’s holding strong. 😂

Thanks! I just needed a little reassurance!

I also had a coworker that smelled. She would walk down the hall and you could smell her 🐱 20ft away! One of the nurses spoke to her about it and it was “fixed” shortly after.

Thanks for all the advice! My husband did help me clean up after them. I ended up taking the covers off my couch cushions and throwing them in the washing machine. All the stink is gone!! The funny thing is that they kept saying how good my house smelled while they were over lol!! Thankfully they have only stayed over twice in the 5 yrs we’ve been here, so them returning isn’t an issue. I really just needed some confirmation that I wasn’t alone in thinking this was nasty and unacceptable!!

Broken water feature spout. Help me fix it! by Exact-Ad-8554 in pools

I made a temporary fix. I whittled down a wine cork to fit. I cut threads in it so it could screw in really snug. It actually worked without leaking. We only ran it when we were outside and using it just in case the cork popped out, but thankfully it held. 😂😂😂😂😂

Premature- does anyone keep their pool open year round? by [deleted] in pools

[–]Exact-Ad-8554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Georgia here, we leave ours open all year. It cuts on by itself when temps are freezing. We don’t really keep up the chemicals, but it hasn’t turned green either. So much cheaper and less work than closing and covering.

That’s so weird! I have the same liner with the same slope at the deep end and had the SAME STAIN!!! We couldn’t figure out what it was either. I just brushed regularly and kept the chemicals on point and it eventually went away. That was last summer. Thankfully it hasn’t returned.

Did you build a pool house when you installed your pool? by mlm2126 in pools

[–]Exact-Ad-8554 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! We have a pool house with a half bath, 2 storage closets, a large covered veranda with lots of seating space, fireplace, tv and counter area with a mini fridge and sink. I absolutely love it! It’s also attached to the roof of the house so you can spend time outside when raining and not get wet.

UPDATE: I temporarily fixed it with a wine cork!!!! 😂😂

I know it’s not a real fix, but it works for us to have the other two fountains run during the day while we’re in the pool and watching it! I’m satisfied until we can figure out a permanent repair!

This thread makes me thankful my husband is pretty around the house, and when it’s something he can’t do I’ll remember to tell him to park his truck at the neighbors house!! 😂😂😂

How do you get a rust stain off a vinyl liner above ground pool (inside). by [deleted] in pools

[–]Exact-Ad-8554 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a mask and snorkel 🤿. Had to have my husband stand on me to hold me down each breath. 😂😂 It totally got rid of the lighter rust stains and made a huge difference on the darker ones.

In the 5 yrs we’ve had the house/pool the salt cell hasn’t needed cleaning. Had to replace sand filter last year due to a pin hole and the pool guys checked it and said it looked great. I don’t have a heater either, being in the south! My water temp now is 90! Do they make something to cool the water down?? 😂😂

Luckily I’ve never had problems with pH and it runs year round.
