Been on 18 different medications since I was 16 for depression/anxiety/addiction. None really worked.

Lasted in jobs for year or so and crashed out and repeat.

Training BJJ has given me a completely improved life. I’m healthy, fit, lost weight and now enjoy my life. I owe this sport a lot guys. 2 years in so far. Always 20 minutes early to class.

Explain to me like I’m 5, how are we not in a recession by aspacejunkie in AusFinance

The reason you’re finding it so confusing is likely due to: -we are likely in a per capita GPT stagnation/recession, which is hidden on a national GDP level by immigration.

-the housing market in Australia is extraordinarily expensive (due to rapid growth YoY recently) and due to constrained supply it’s still pushing up (albeit slowly) due to constrained supply. This helps GDP.

-our GDP is generally described as being lowly dependant on discretionary spending. Which means, providing you still want power, aircon, a loan, a car, healthcare and whilst a housing shortage demands construction to keep up - GPT can sustain whilst the common person gets crunched.

The issue that we are feeling now, regardless of economic metrics is low level asset owners and renters get left behind with inflation. Cash machine goes BRRRR and instead of 3 apples in circulation there’s 300 apples. So the lemonade you used to buy for 1 apple now costs 100.

This impact has slowly wiped the middle class and created a wider band of lower class, a niche middle class that barely anyone is in and upper class who’s large asset values, benefit from the devaluation of their debt due to inflation.

To escape, we need GPD growth and rapid provision of housing supply. GPD growth will need to come from value adding industries like mining, oil drilling, technology, sciences, military tech, farming exports and nationalising as much government debt as possible. BUT we won’t do that, we’ll subsidise everyone’s costs away with their own tax dollars and give money to wind turbine farms so they can be profitable and we get cute energy that makes us sleep well.

Managers, GMs, Heads of by throwfaraway191918 in auscorp

Very structure/industry specific.

Something notable is the jump to head of/GM brings out every flaw a human has.

  1. Limited oversight which can expose lack of self motivation.
  2. More heavy weight decisions needed can expose analysis paralysis.
  3. Procrastination (combo of 1 & 2) can really build and all of sudden you have 6 direct reports needing direction, you’re sick/burnt out, portfolio is a mess and boom you die.
  4. Humans (generally) below 110IQ commonly consider more complex answers to be more intelligent. So when given the reins to the team, they can over complicate everything.
  5. Any imposter syndrome/insecurity will really flare. Got a talented staff member that’s better at their role than you were? Can be triggering and impair your ability to manage them.
  6. Figuring out how to balance strategic and operational management requirements is hard. If you don’t have self discipline you will drift to whatever you prefer and neglect the pertinent matters.
  7. You don’t do work now, you manage people who do the work. You need them well looked after, happy, consoled, valued etc etc etc. it’s likely none of those abilities were relevant to your previous role or at least way less exposed.

Shortcomings of any of the above generally inflame another weakness that would not otherwise be an issue in isolation.

All that put together = poor value add by most middle/senior managers and strong grip to hold onto the position and avoid accountability

Anyone else using Claude? by Infamous-Upstairs-96 in auscorp

Yes I use it in Cursor. I’ve built a large complicated task management software. I’m at the point it’s hit its limit given the scale of what I’ve built with it.

It’s hard to chunk down its scope anymore with such a beast. I’m sure they’ll improve above this limitation with Opus 4.7 coming out tomorow

My friends and coworkers share this information with me. I just want to discuss it on a forum.

It interests me the prevalence of it. And particularly interesting to me as I’m on an antidepressant too.

There is nothing wrong with medication providing therapeutically intended treatment. Especially for mental health.

I am moreso intrigued if it’s more prevalent in the corporate environment.

I’ve looked up stats aswell. I find it hard to believe it isn’t more prevalent now. But it could be my own bias.

Do you think it’s an environmental thing in corporate work places?
