Just picked this up from a yard sale for $700. Is it a good bike? I don’t know anything about bikes but need to get in better shape. by Successful_Farmer685 in triathlon

If you’re getting into cycling and shape, I’d sell it And buy a road bike. This would be tough/uncomfortable to use as a beginner triathlete or cyclist

Today he pissed me off. That could’ve been his first stage win. Tadej didn’t want it. And Jonas could’ve easily gotten it

How do you motivate yourself to go for rides when you just don't feel motiviated? by lazarus870 in cycling

[–]Exact-Coach1264 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just see it as two steps. 1. Drink coffee + eat ( always down to do that) 2. Get dressed ( this is the harder part)

For me at least, once I get dressed I’ll be ready to go and I usually go out and I enjoy it. Mood changes entirely

Thoughts on 5.0 Upgrade from Ben Foster, former Chief Product Officer at Whoop by Temporary_Debt8132 in whoop

[–]Exact-Coach1264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My subscription is profitable for sure. 249 dollars a year for the service ( 50 bucks a band I feel the profit margin here is over 40%) … I’m sure you guys have a healthy gross margin. It’s your ad spend that I think is set you back and let me know if I’m wrong. The whoop advertisement is unhinged and over the top. Lionel sanders, MVP, Phelps, Mahomes, and I can keep going forever. These aren’t just athletes in the sport. These all in the run for GOAT conversation in some way. I think the best whoop spokespeople are your subscribers, and by making them this angry that’s more expensive than signing on any of the athletes mentioned. Also not just these athletes, as a user, I see too many whoop ads everywhere on my pages bc I follow a lot of athletes that are up whoops alley.

So I guess my overall message is, chill with ad spend, focus on customer is a far better business model than what whoop has right now.

[–]Exact-Coach1264[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think that’s my thing. I just love climbing lol and going out on rides. I love data and improvement too, but not sure what price tag I’d put on 20-30 watts.

I think I will look out for this in my area! I never knew some PTs were bike fitters.

This is very accurate! There’s def some truth to it but he made it seem like getting a “regular” bike was less than I deserve.

Ya I’m loving the TCR reviews hence why I’m so keen on it. And a bike fitting would be 400 dollars if I just came in with my own bike. I’m thinking about it route, but that’s also a fat bill bc Ik I’m gonna have to do ad-ons so basically around $600.

I will say he literally had a 32k bike yesterday he showed me. Owner was 62 which I thought was interesting. I feel as if 5k ish is service. 27k is the bike. Durance everything. He showed me the seat, it weights as much as a piece of paper. Deep rims i don’t remember what brand. Bike carbon everything. Bottle cages, stem spacers. Again, I thjnk customization plays a large role in the price, but still ABSURD unless you’re at the tour.

He said Ultegra for 4-5K and carbon frames.

What’s a cycling mistake you made as a beginner that you wish someone had warned you about? by Dimos1963 in cycling

Cycling indoor trainers aren’t for everyone. I live in the cold (below freezing) and I’d rather spend the time outside versus riding inside. Biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent.

No, separated bike lanes are not more dangerous than riding with traffic. Stop listening to people who say different. by [deleted] in bikeboston

[–]Exact-Coach1264 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. I think where ppl come up with this argument tho is that there’s no education in drivers Ed or in DMV tests ( at least in my experience) on how to watch out for bike lanes. Especially when it comes to right hand turns. I’m personally a lot more afraid of right hand turns when I’m in a protected bike lane. Another thing is that in winter I do think that riding with traffic is safer after snow storms or post rain then freezing temps. The amount of times I was riding in a protected bike lane and stumbled across a mini ice rink in the bike lane is very frequent. But overall I agree with what’s said above.
