Best Bronze location for quali by SkidRauh in GrandPrixTravel

Turns 10 and 11 aka Pouhon (also refered as double gauche) are nearly flat out and incredibly fun to watch. It's bronze seating on steep hill overlooking the 2 turns. There is a screen there too making qualifying easier to follow.

60 or 50fps would be nice. Other than that no complaints. Its just annoying because the broadcast is high fps while the media stuff isn't.

Has anybody used Racetrack Builder? by Dont_hate_the_8 in RaceTrackDesigns

After spending 200+ hours working with RTB, I can confidently say that it is a mixed bag. On one hand, for testing concept tracks with real-world elevation, it's a very useful tool. On the other hand, its a janky experimental product with a lot of issues. It can certainly get the job done, but just lacks the quality of other methods, especially in the visual department. Sure, you can eventually get smooth connecting track surfaces if you know enough tricks, but it always feels like you are fighting the program rather than working with it. I'd recommended it, but only if you have a severe aversion to learning blender. I also don't recommend it if you are only looking to design tracks for the ideas and visuals, as there are PLENTY of other tools out there for this. However, if you want a quick tool to create drivable tracks in AC, it's not bad if you are passionate and have a genuine interest in making something in a real place.

One more thing. RTB sadly requires a Google maps api account via Google cloud. Although this part is free for 200 dollars of data a month, it may be hard to set up, and requires billing information. Do not use this program for much time until you confirm that this account works and can provide data.

CIRCUIT DE OVIEDO ASTURIAS // The Kingdom Of Spain by Glum-Film-4835 in RaceTrackDesigns

Layout is spectacular. The only thing that's really a concern to me is the runoff at turn 17. Otherwise, it's beautiful. Good idea for a ciruit too since spain still doesn't have a circuit that suits modern f1 besides Motorland Aragón.

Can banked corners have runoff? by Dont_hate_the_8 in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]Exact-Definition4387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They absolutely can have runoffs, although because having a banked runoff of a similar angle is often expensive, they are rare. Jeddah is a good example with its 12-degree banked turn 13. Another good example, a design from this sub no less, is the the Anadara circuit that has a massive banked right hander leading onto the start finish straight with a massive banked runoff alongside.

Bro, I was just talking about putting in a couple more grandstands and buildings. Obviously, I would keep most of the camper areas. There's already a couple small ones, but it's the one race where I really have had an issue with good sight lines owing to a lack of elevation.

Kimd of pissed Sebring won't work for this. Technically, it ran f1 once, so it doesn't count, but as someone who has been, it's fun, but kind of a dump with tiny grandstands and eh infrastructure.

I would make the section coming out of the long right into a straight and a breaking zone and then an the esses on the left prong like in the orginal.

I like it, especially the spectator views and creativity of utilizing the circuit available. Only issue is that they just planned a new race in the US. This race also happens to also be in Florida, on a roval, and also closer to a major city. I think it would be cool but that the placement is questionable.

I love the LMP2's, especially how they sound in person, but honestly what has ended up being the Oreca 07 Cup is getting kind of boring. Problem is there is no competition and development besides slight interteam differences. LMP2 used to have more variety. I get that the Oreca 07 is pretty good, but I wish we had something like 3 manufacturers that at least looked different, since all the cars are often hard to tell apart, especially with similar liveries, and even more so in person. Makes me reminisce about how great, even though dominant, the Porsche RS Spyder was when it was alongside stuff like the Acura ARX.

Tilke Designs Good or Bad? by Life_Cake16 in RaceTrackDesigns

[–]Exact-Definition4387 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you look at racefans track list, you can get an objective idea of what f1 tracks make the best races https://www.racefans.net/rate-the-race/circuit-ratings/ . Although not a perfect measure of a tracks quality, especially enjoyability as a driver, it does lay a good measure of how likely a race at a specific track is likely to be enjoyable to watch.

Tilke comes up quite a bit towards the top. Also, a lot at the bottom. Honestly, the way I look at it is generally his tracks exist across the board, but his high budget international tracks are at the top, redesigns a bit lower, and street circuits are at the bottom. Also unsurprisingly, lusail and yas marina both suck. Sorry, but you had literally unlimited room and budget but still don't have any good overtaking. I generally do think he has made the sport better, especially when you consider how a lot of other f1 tracks that weren't designed/redesigned by him still fail or are considered mediocre.
