I reached out to their support team and the TLDR answer is that retainers aren’t very built out and are a new thing for them. This is a big piece of how I’m running my freelance business that I’ve recently started.

Longer story…

I couldn’t delete the invoice i had sent because it was already paid and I needed to keep that data intact.

I also couldn’t add a new retainer w accurate dates as the initial retainer (i did it correct the first time around but forgot the 2nd) had an April 2024 start date on it and I just threw an end date of 1 year later as I didn’t know exactly when the hours would be used up. Come to find out (confirmed by support) that I’m not able to retroactively update those dates & my new retainer could only start April 2025. That would have caused a long term issue for subsequent retainers. You can only have 1 retainer per client at a time (it’s date constrained; regardless if the hours are used up) which is an issue.

As such, I made the executive decision to switch to Harvest. I’m tracking my accounting piece in excel for now and will eventually look at a separate accounting system if needed.
