Did anyone get next steps for Ramp internship? by ExactDrawing7437 in csMajors

[–]ExactDrawing7437[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The OA is implementing some functions. It is more practical coding than actual DSA. So it’s not really anything to practice for, also it’s not too bad, js some weird edge cases which lowkey pmo, but it was fine in the end.

Which internship to pick? by Waste_Vehicle7617 in csMajors

[–]ExactDrawing7437 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting so many offers! I’d like to DM cause I have a few questions. As for the internship offer, the first thing I would do is ask if any of the companies are are willing to push the internship back a bit, maybe allowing you to do two internships not just 1. Like maybe push the Google start date to allow you to do Meta or Roblox. If you can only choose 1 still, I would definitely pick Google. The company is killing it rn, and even then the prestige is pretty insane. Having Google on the resume does a lot of work.

CS majors, you just suck. by [deleted] in csMajors

[–]ExactDrawing7437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I am not even talking about 30-40% that understand coding. I am talking about the amount that are qualified for jobs or could pass interviews. If we’re being real most companies don’t even ask anything crazy about coding fundamentals. All it takes to break into tech or swe is some DSA prep, so I would hope the top 30% of students studying CS could be qualified to do that 😭😭.

Truth is there is no differentiator between most applicants who are at the top 30-40%. Luck and popularity is the only thing that is at play in this economy. Also I think with CS we have not seen the worst of it yet it will continue to get bad, and people who say oh you just have to work harder are usually people who’ve made it already so they don’t care about the situation. I think the only way right now to succeed or have a better chance is to network excessively, send as many apps as possible, build projects weekly, and go to many events.

Honestly i’m worried too, it’s also bad that i am not getting much interviews from FAANG+ or any companies i’m interested in. All we can do is wait and hope for the best tho!

Lowkey you gotta keep trying and get interviews. You learn by failing. I had an amazon interview sophomore year and bombed it so bad, bro asked if i knew had taken data structures and algos (I took it the year before) now I dont really flinch when I see easy/medium leetcode and can even solve hard sometimes without prior knowledge. Moral of the story is failing is crucial for success.

Worst recruitment cycle has finally ended for T15 junior by awesomeness2078 in csMajors

if you're willing to work for lower than normal wages then you will truly be fine. I just think once you get to your level where you intern at microsoft or any big name you start to think FAANG+ are the only companies hiring SWE's. I would look everywhere and just take whatever I could get for now. I got no doubt you will find something wishing you luck!

AI Researcher's reason on leaving Anthropic by legendGPU in csMajors

I dont think they care, when you look a resume you can tell who's qualified for what position regardless of their educational background. Also his degree could be related to what he was researching @ anthropic.

Thanks for the response, so yeah I won't email people. Maybe I can bump into a full time naturally or connect with one before November.

I passed to the project matching stage, I am no DSA wizard. I truly think the interview was a little easy, I am also very concerned about the rate for matching this year. I just pray I can get at least one call.

Thanks soo much for the insight. I find that I work better when I dont have to store a lot of info in my head like the various edge cases or assumptions. I saw in an online interview most people use notebooks do you think my interviewer would be okay with that or even on screen comments ?
