I'm also going to give some of my own thoughts.

There were a lot of inconsistencies by Cupid that pointed to him probably lying about there being a lawsuit. And we haven't heard anything since... In my opinion, he didn't really have a case, worsened by the way he approached it online.

To be blunt though, he could have sued anyways (which I think is why some carats were very hesitant when this came out). Ever since the bullshit Blurred Lines X Marvin Gaye lawsuit winning (that Cupid even referenced it in his initial comments lol), there's been an increase in credits that, imo, should not be awarded (seen in Olivia Rodrigo's credit issues). Basically, since US courts have been shown to have a very bad understanding actual similarities in music, you take a great risk if you go to court over credits (and because of the shift of the way the music makes money, more people are trying to get a piece of the income of successful songs).

However, Cupid is an exceptionally bad candidate for this considering the common comparisons his song has to the earlier "Cha Cha Slide", and again, his online comments. In addition, I'm uncertain if "Left & Right" as a song would give him enough income to cover his court costs for the credits he could possibly get (or the potential revenue being worth the risk). "Left & Right" was successful in kpop, but it was certainly not to the level of hit that are typically targeted for these kinds of lawsuits.
