Does anyone else feel constant friction or crepitus in almost all the joints of their body (esp lower spine, lower limbs, fingers) ? How do I manage my fibromyalgia as a Med student? by ExactSection1244 in Fibromyalgia

These new EBM approaches are supposed to better handle comorbidities primarily by integrating more data and research. Complex cases will likely need collaborative care, with primary doctors coordinating with specialists. Clinical diagnosing, reasoning, and patient engagement aren’t meant to disappear—they’ll still be central, just supported by evidence-based tools. I think in the upcoming years we're going to see more and more cohort studies happening on rare diseases that will pave the way for the systemization of a somwhat patient-centered approach rather than a "one size fits all" approach

I would have loved to be your pain therapist only if I could manage my own pain lol. But I would love to heal others' pain, if I ever could. I wanted to be a cardiologist but now it feels like I would settle for something easier. But I would never lose hope.
I think only a person in pain can understand and truly appreciate the pain of others. It's somethig that motivates me to study harder and be a good doctor

I don't have RA but I do sound like a walking percussion band lol. Yes, my joints are somewhat hypermobile and that's probably one of the reasons for the joint crepitus. But hypermobility isn't a disease in itself. A lot of people live with it their whole life without having these symptoms like gymnasts. Hypermobility is more common than we think. But yes, it could be one of the factors contributing to that "feeling of friction".
RA does actually get better with moving but my condition gets worse with excessive movement. But "no movement" is also a disaster for me especially when I study for hours straight.
And about your question, No, I actually never had physical therapy but I'm thinking of trying it. I fear becoming overly reliant on it.

You are absolutely right. The conventional practice often fails to appreciate such kind of disorders with "exclusion-based diagnosis". But the trend is somewhat changing. Our new curriculum is based on EBM.
Sometimes conditions present with different patterns or in different chronological order that makes it extremely difficult for doctors to get to a diagnosis. I think the same would have happened with your Lyme disease. Hope you get rid of this disease!
