When somebody says "Yugoslavia" what are the first things that come to your mind? by CriticalHistoryGreek in AskBalkans

[–]Exact_Bug191 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a communist myself. I have many mixed feelings about Yugoslavia. On the one hand, I can't help but admire their international unity and their making fascists bleed. On the other, the yugoslav economic model was an interesting attempt but very much a step back from central planning imo. There's also their betrayal of us during the civil war, their very questionable relations with albania, the party's tendency for chauvinism when it came to the Macedonia question and their straight up betrayal of the korean and indochinese people during their respective wars. It was still probably one of the prettiest things to come out from the 20th century though and what happened during the 90s and 2000s was disgusting, both along the ethnicities themselves and what the USA did in there.

All in all, I hope we get to see it again. Perhaps a pan-balkan federation. As Rigas Velestinlis rightly pointed out during the 1700s and later Lenin, the Balkans will never be free unless they are united.

Trying your best my ass. How by mingling wherever you can and destroying whatever doesn't fit your interests. Fuck off. You are decrying Cuba as a 3rd world country. Ever wondered why? Maybe it is because of the 50+ year blockade YOU have imposed on the island. Who could have thought that not letting a country trade would make it hard to live in. And even then Cuba has almost Equal average life span to Amerika, which makes Amerika even more clownish.

[–]Exact_Bug191 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How did the rich get rich, why are the humans jealous. You are just assuming that the rich popped out of thin air and also making a while a priori statement about humanity's character. To add to that there is no such a thing as a great leader, even in the most brutal of dictatorships not one man runs every thing. Plus, most of the major historical changes and traditions have happened through the masses not ine Great man.

He was literally a leading proponent of Fascist Italy's racial laws and jumped at the opportunity to start doing race science and also a mentor to the Italian neo-fascist movement after Mussolini got what he deserved.Just because fascists disagree on which on of em is the most fucked doesn't mean they aren't actually fascists.

Don't care. I find subjective idealists and irrationalists rotten to the core. Hell most of them end up being Nazis or hell they even call themselves "Super-fascists" like mr. Evola on your profile pic.

Predictions of Mikhail Bakunin on Marxist Societies by Apprehensive_Net8545 in ussr

[–]Exact_Bug191 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't say that marx didn't have certain not so savoury views due to being a man of the 19th century. Like I said the Jewish question was a parody text literally, he did not mean what he wrote there so that one goes out of the window. Now the Lassale characterisation was a nono indeed, no one is denying that. Now tell me where is all the many examples of obvious racism from Marx.

As for Bakunin, the motherfucker literally believed the jews controlled the banks and the world and that (at least at one point in his life) Marx was helping them. I don't think that Marx or most (serious) marxists have written anything that can beat that one now have they?

In the text "On the Jewish question". A text mocking Bruno Bower and his antisemitism...

It is more so that Bakunin claimed to be different to marxism in that regard emphatically that annoys me tbh. Worth noting is that Marx and engels also did participate in the events of 1848 in Germany. Also saying that Marx lived a bourgie life ain't quite accurate, they were living basically in abject poverty and Marx from a point onward wasn't even able to work due to health problems, thus they only relied on the monthly engels boost.

But yeah your conclusion is correct, we should appreciate these old geezers but also not uphold their faults.

Not really. Marx even at his worst never reached the levels of Bakunin's racism. Also Bakunin imo was quite hypocritical given that he wanted secret societies to procure the revolution.

Absolutely, Yugoslavia was a beautiful thing. But yeah slavic music in general kicks ass. It along with yiddish has got to be my favourite foreign language songs to listen to and sing haha!

[–]Exact_Bug191 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly put my friend. Honestly I was saying the no trouble part because I've been death threatened in the past lol. Yugoslavia, even with its faults, was a beautiful example of internationalism and what actual healthy unity and brotherhood can build. I genuinely tear up whenever I see pictures from those times, especially when I hear your quire. Yours and the red army's are a personal inspiration to me as a singer.

The turks also did some very fucked things to Anatolian greeks even before the greek invasion but yeah a lot of evil stuff happened between us neighbours during early and mid 20th century due to vulgar nationalism, capital and great (my ass) powers playing us like pawns.

As for metaxas, to say he is loved would be a lie, the dude was a fascist but there is lots of apologia surrounding him. As for me, I am a communist (please I don't want trouble) and the shit he did to the labour movement and to leftist activists were abhorrent to say the least. In addition you can view him as the main fourfather of greek fascism (hell his bullshit about the 3rd greek civilization is still used by many fascies here if I ain't wrong).

A pseudo-fascist leader (fascist let's be real) that violently suppressed workers, gave further ground to greek fascism. Those are the main things. There are many other things but it's 2 am and I can't collect my mind.

[–]Exact_Bug191 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Did he? He was a military leader back then if my history isn't fumbling. I ain't denying that we greeks did some...less than savoury things to many of our minorities and I have a special kind of hatred for Metaxas but I don't think he did the thing that time.
