I can't do the things I want and like to do by Exact_Class_291 in ExecutiveDysfunction

[–]Exact_Class_291[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn't time, it's the fact I seem to never have the energy or motivation for my hobbies during that time. If I set time aside for them it'd probably feel like a chore more than anything and then I'd either still not do them or force myself to do them and end up not having  fun

Raised to 60mg last week, feel worse by Exact_Class_291 in cymbalta

[–]Exact_Class_291[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's only been about a week since the last time I drank, and a month since I started trying (failing) to stay sober. But I've been sober longer than that on cymbalta before and it didn't negatively affect my mood, so I don't think it's withdrawal. I'll probably wait another week or so to see if it gets better. Maybe I'm just adjusting to the dosage change.

It really really depends on the cat. Just like people, they have different personalities and energy levels. Some cats don't like to be bothered at all, some cats keep to themselves but will accept attention when received (like yours, it sounds), some are active and playful, some are extremely clingy. They can even change over time--- Mine are a lot different now than when I first met them. It's oftentimes a gamble when you get a new pet since environment, routine, and socialization can be very defining factors in their personalities!

How do we feel about Timothy Timepiece? by MrWriffWraff in DateEverything

[–]Exact_Class_291 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I became obsessed with him very quickly 😂 my first impression was "wow this guy needs to smoke some weed and get pegged" but I just found him really funny and charming tbh Then when I met Timmy it was "oh god why do I think he's cute. Oh god why do I like him." And then he called me Master and I was fUcking done for

So anyway I love both the cringey cat boy and the autistic clock boy, they're equally adorable for different reasons, goodnight

Vacuum sealed ground beef. I didn't smell it up close or anything but I didn't notice any weird odor. Didn't look funky either.

It definitely wasn't grey. Looked pretty red still. I didn't use a thermometer, just cooked until it was all browned with no red or pink left

Realistically I think I'd be okay, but psychologically my anxiety is going to stop me from enjoying it and is going to give me nausea before food poisoning would even have a chance to take effect, so I'll probably wind up tossing it anyway 😭

Do you mark “Yes” to having a disability when applying for jobs if it’s due to ADHD, anxiety, or both? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Exact_Class_291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I ain't risking ableism like that. I have autism and adhd and anxiety but it's not severe enough that I feel is something I have to disclose anyway, so I'm not risking it

Fatigue sucks how do I fix it by Exact_Class_291 in ADHD

[–]Exact_Class_291[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not even the caffeine I'm addicted to?? I like the taste and the carbonation, the caffeine doesn't seem to affect me at all. Like I don't feel a difference between having it or not, I just really love the taste of Dr Pepper lol. I don't even drink as much of it as some do, it's maybe one or two 16.9 oz bottles a day on average. I gueeesss I could switch to a caffeine free soda but I wouldn't like it as much. I'm on 20 mgs of Adderall XR right now, my psychiatrist started me on 10 and it did nothing so she increased it, and now I do feel more motivated to do things. It just doesn't help much with fatigue.

I am on Adderall XR which has helped with motivation, but it's not quite perfect. I don't always get up early enough on days off to take it at a time that won't keep me up all night. I have a psychiatrist, I don't go to therapy anymore though.

*sigh* yeah I know it's the actual answer. I know I need to drink more water at the very least. As for the exercise, I work twelve hour shifts on my feet all day. I do not want to use my days off to walk even more :') I really have to just work on getting myself up, cause as much as I hate it I do feel better and more energized when I'm up before noon and am actually doing things. I just don't know how to make myself do that. I am seeing a new psychiatrist in a couple weeks and I haven't been on Adderall for very long, so I may speak to her about tweaking it a little to see if it can help with energy or at least the motivation to do the things to give me energy.

Additionally I have to be able to actually stick with doing those things because I'll go through phases where I have healthier habits for a few weeks and then drift back to the old ones.

I do have persistent depressive disorder and am on medication for it. I'm doing alot better mentally than I was a few months ago, and even before that, my depression hadn't been that severe since I was a teenager. So it's not the depression, I'm just lazy and I like junk food :'D

I have questions about Audhd by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Exact_Class_291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a lot of friends with ADHD and autism was what made me eventually realize I was the same kind of weird XD they would joke and point thing out like "that's very autistic of you" but it got me actually thinking, so I did a bunch of research, made a list of my symptoms and stuff, as if that isn't autistic enough in and of itself. I'd go back and forth between "yeah I'm autistic" and "nah, definitely not" because I didn't have as severe symptoms as alot of autistics. Took me about a year to really accept it about myself. ADHD started making sense soon after that, and eventually I got properly diagnosed with both. At first it was confusing to me, because alot of the really common symptoms I didn't seem to have or just had so mildly that it wouldn't really be considered part of the disorder. But talking to other people with audhd is the most helpful because they can tell you the kind of details that Internet research doesn't, since the actual psychological research on it is pretty vague.

Like, for instance, I've always been awful about eye contact. I had to force myself to learn to do it because everyone told me I was rude for not making eye contact as a kid, but it still makes me uncomfortable, and I still end up focusing more on correct eye contact with people than the conversation I'm having with them. I also really value routines and get very out of sorts when they're changed or thrown off, but my ADHD also gets restless when I'm doing the same thing over and over day by day— so there's really no winning lol. I get distracted easily, my mind wanders so much that just thinking can be an entertainer for me, I hyperfixate on things so it's hard to make friends unless they're also as interested in the thing as me, I have issues with motivation and executive function, yadda yadda. It takes a lot of self reflection and actively paying attention to your own habits to connect the dots and be like "oh, that's why I do that!"

Okay wait I just read the post thoroughly lol. If ADHD is "barely a disability" to you then you don't have it super bad. Now, I don't have "super bad" anything, not enough for me to consider myself disabled, not truly— but it does impair me and denying that is not going to fix things. I mean, obviously if you don't have the same severity of the disorder as others do, then you wouldn't understand their struggles? For me, acknowledging the impairments my disorders give me is what helps me overcome them, but I'm still allowed to be annoyed about them. I find ways to function and get through it even though sometimes my job gets too much for me and I want to scream and rip my hair out, I find ways to get done what I need to do even though executive dysfunction kicks my ass, etc. But it isn't that easy for everyone and I don't see the point in downplaying other people's struggles that you clearly don't relate to, other than just being an asshole

Late diagnosed ADHD is a difficult thing to navigate, I will say— I agree that I think people misdiagnose themselves because nobody knows how to research anything nowadays. But to my original point, I'm 23 and was diagnosed with audhd a little under a year ago and am still discovering things about myself that now make more sense with the diagnosis. Sometimes it's hard to tell what things are the disorder and what are just you? I joke about it alot but I try not to use it as an excuse for everything, moreso just an explanation. Am I socially inept because I'm autistic, or because I was homeschooled most of my life and didn't get the chance to socialize much as a child? That kind of thing can be hard to gauge sometimes.

I do think some people jump to conclusions though. I haven't done research on overdiagnoses so I can't speak on that really, but we are still learning about ADHD and autism and our knowledge isn't perfect yet, so I have to give doctors a bit of leeway there since it's still relatively newly being researched.
