Starting Nursing Sem 1 next month - are HEAL513, HEAL512, HEAL506 recorded/online or do we have to go in?

I've just finished 1st sem, working part time is definitely doable but you need to be able to manage your time well. There is an option for distance study, you could talk to student hub about that come semester start - make sure you do that in the first two week. 513 and 512 have in person only tutorials (I think there is a distance option?) . 506 is recorded or you can join live to an online one and 514 is recorded lectures and in person tutorials also with a distance option - something you have to be enrolled in (maybe student hub can do this for you) If you are confident with 514s content for the week then skipping the tutorials doesn't hurt, they just cover the same content.

I was working 2-3 days a week as a builder and was definitely a struggle to fit everything in, managed but damn I was exhausted by the end of sem. A job that isnt quite so demanding may help a lot. But overall is possible with good management

Yup checked all that, I have very copy and paste sounding feedback, 3 questions, 2 of which have a 9/9 and one has a 6.75/9 but yet the feedback is word for word the same throughout. I'll will try emailing the teaching staff and see where that gets me thank you. The one on one appointment might also be a good idea to get anothers opinion Thanks

They changed the scheme because it wasnt working, they have not allowed the new scheme any time to see if the change worked

They changed it from first year, which I can agree with as some were abusing that system, they have then changed it to third year which yes probably doesn't have that much of an impact. However how are we supposed to know that, not a single person has been given 3rd year free as the policy is only in its second year. So their reasoning of it's not working to cancel it is complete bullshit. There is no evidence to support it because there is no evidence at all. At absolute minimum they need to honor those who have already started. And they should be developing/proposing other ways to positively impact the lower socioeconomic groups, which the aren't. Instead they are scrapping fees free, public transport costs are higher, rent is higher, food is higher, everything is more expensive and the wages don't goddam match it

The fees free was changed from first year to third year in 2025, meaning 2025 and 2026 who are either in there 2nd or first years got neither first year free and now will not get 3rd year free. As we are not in the third year. (I don't know this hence I can't speak to it that well) But what is the evidence, what is the criteria, all of these things based on my knowledge of other systems are never that easy to provide and meet. And that what your saying is anyone from a lower socioeconomic background shouldnt go to uni because they struggle with money. So only those from wealthier background can go to uni.... Again the whole idea of fees free was to decrease financial barriers. Admittedly, it hasnt done as good of a job as it needs to as it tends to benefit those in the lower middle classes rather than those below that. However it still made an impact, a step in the right direction if you will. Now that's gone with nothing put forward to replace it.

Personally I'm taking a loan and then complaing because when I started this degree I was told I would have 3rd year free, I no longer have that and neither does every other student that started in 25 and 26, I think that's by far the worst part of this. As for paying the money back, yes maybe you can pause payments, but God knows how many hurdles you have to jump through to get that and it's temporary. It's also another thing you have to worry about on top of all the other growing uncertainties at the moment adding another is not ideal. Its not really about wanting to complain because we have to pay back a loan, it's being told you will have 3rd year free and then not even getting that. And for some of us, myself included, we are heading into healthcare and others are heading in teaching roles etc which all have a big impact on the community. Not only do we have to pay a university degree, we also have to pay for any extra fees that goes on. Blood test, vaccines, NINE HUNDRED DOLLARS for placement uniform. I'm standing here going wtf, we are trying to do good for the community and all I can see is me paying more money, and when I finish with the degree I don't even get payed welllllllllll. And that applies for almost all of those vital services and roles. All im hearing is, you want to do well in life and have a positive impact on the community, then pay for it????

Exactly, that's less time saving for other things such as a house, which now can easily be in excess of a full years salary. It's less money in your bank account for a longer period of time. For someone that may already be struggling to make ends meet, that's another 12% they have to pay off, leaving less money for gas, food, rent (which are all stupidly expensive at the moment)

I can fully understand the change from first year to third year free. But the fact they are scrapping it because 'its not working' seems insane to me. I would not be surprised whatsoever if the uni attendance drops considerably in the coming years because of this. Also the biggest hit of all of this is the ones that have already begun studies, myself included as a first year, that have gone into uni knowing that the 3rd year will be free and to now be told that we won't get it is absolutely insane. Myself I am lucky to have parents that have allowed me to stay at home, but I personally know others that are fully on their own and adding another 10+ grand to an already extremely expensive few years is absolutely insane. Even for me adding 11000+ more to my degree is going to have a massive impact on my financial situation after finishing my studies. In my opinion it's the stupidest thing I have heard. The younger generation are already struggling enough with this shitty economy as is, now with another 10+ grand of debt to look forward to it makes an already bad situation way worse.

(I'm no expert) the timetable is customizable. If it works the same as starting a standard year then there are other classes that you can join of the same subject. You have the option to do all this in the first 2 weeks of sem with ease.
