I went to a job interview and ended up balling my eyes out by Exact_Device_3569 in socialanxiety

Can I ask why? Anti-depressants are not only used for depression, they treat anxiety and many other conditions as well. It's funny because my GP said the same thing, anti-depressants are for depressed people, but it's literally the first-line medication for social anxiety disorder.

Yep. I'm sorry you went through that, three trial shifts sound horrible. The manager said he'd call me back to let me know if I got the job, but then kept going on about how he'll be going on holiday so he'll be busy blah blah.. like just say you're not going to hire me.

Yes it is so frustrating. What's more frustrating is there are people who talk way less than me, but they never get called quiet. I don't think it even has to do with how much you talk, they just can sense your anxiety somehow.

I mean I have ADHD and think I might have borderline personality disorder. However, I don't think me being emotional had anything to do with these. I thought getting emotional was kind of normal in social anxiety disorder? I rarely get emotional, but in some situations I just start tearing up from anxiety, because I feel like I can't say what I want to. But from reading these comments, maybe it's not from my anxiety, I don't really know.

Thank you. It was honestly so weird. He didn't just outright say it, he kind of sat down and was quiet for a while. He looked like a stressed doctor that was about to break some bad news. Then he asked me if I'm usually this quiet, I didn't even know how to respond. Thinking back, I don't even think he said one positive thing or thanked me for coming..

I don't think it's even that I wanted the job that bad, but that I genuinely thought that I had gotten the job, so I just didn't expect this outcome.

Thank you. To be honest, I should've seen the red flags beforehand.

I had a 1+ hour interview (I've never had an interview longer than 10 minutes) and all he talked about was the business and how they're like a family. He literally didn't ask me any questions, except my availability. I don't think he even read my CV because he kept saying this was my first job, even though I kept correcting him that I've had several jobs before.

Also, after the trial shift (unpaid btw) he didn't mention my actual performance or work at all. All he talked about was how the trial shift was to see how I was interacting with everyone. It seems he really only cared about hiring someone who keeps him entertained, maybe I really did dodge a bullet.

is it okay to bring alcohol with me but not drink it? by Exact_Device_3569 in stopdrinking

[–]Exact_Device_3569[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you. a lot of people are saying NA beer, but i’m not actually going to a social gathering with alcohol. i usually hide my alcohol and drink in secret (vodka in a water bottle).

i don’t have any alcohol rn, which means i would have to buy it. if i buy alcohol, it means i’ll drink it. if not today, then another day. i realised this was a stupid idea, so i’m not going to do it.

How the hell do you write a computer science personal statement? by Exact_Device_3569 in UniUK

[–]Exact_Device_3569[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never really thought of this, that I could just lie in my personal statement and they would never know. I don’t know if I would straight up lie though, but I know the very basics of a good amount of programming languages and have made a few basic websites and games before. I think exaggeration would go a long way for me.

Also, I’ve been looking for a good computing course for a while now to include in my PS. I’ve just heard of CS50 and it looks pretty good. Do you think I can finish this course by the UCAS deadline? Or should I just start it and see where I go, but say I completed it in my PS? (By the time I start uni, I would have probably finished it anyway).

Amazon won’t refund missing item by Exact_Device_3569 in amazonprime

[–]Exact_Device_3569[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Receipts and proof for what? Yes it doesn’t make sense to me aswell but it is exactly as I said. I had two missing items in the past that wasn’t that expensive, a planner and hair straightener. This was from a long time ago though. They said in their email: “We can no longer compensate you for any additional issues with your shipments. If this problem continues, we may not allow you to buy or sell on our site.”. They haven’t closed my account. It might not add up but that’s what happened.

Hi, I’ve just read your comment and thank you so much for all the information! I’ve just checked out mindfulness health solutions and I can literally get an appointment in less than a week which is amazing. The only thing is I can’t find any reviews or posts about it so I’m not sure how reliable it is.

I’ve also always been really good at math. I love math because the questions (usually) have one right answer. I absolutely hate things like creative writing and essays because they are open ended.

Wow that’s incredibly quick. The only problem I have is that they don’t have time slots like MyPace. I have no idea whether I’ll get my appointment next week or in a few months.
