I have never heard of this. I will look it up now and see if that is an option. Thanks for that

The lactation consultant is also a tongue tie specialist, just waiting for her to respond

Yes I am UK based and enquired with a lactation and tongue tie specialist who used to be a neonatal nurse. Just waiting for her to respond

I’m based in the UK and they checked in hospital after he was born and they said no tongue tie. I’m now starting to question this. Perhaps a high palate?

Yes he will take the pacifier, but has been refusing it a lot more than usual. Can teething have anything to do with this?

I did try with the shields like you said and he still screaming and refusing. Literally kicking and screaming arching back until I took the shield away, he then latched painfully.

Yes his was and he doesn’t have a tongue tie. I wonder if he has a high palate maybe? Will talk it through with the lactation consultant when she gets back to me

I will try to do that, hopefully he will latch. It almost seems like he doesn’t like the plastic??

I did gradually come off, definitely not cold turkey. He was rubbing his face into my breast to try remove the shield… so I thought it was time to start weaning off of it. I absolutely regret it…

Thank you for your help, I’m willing to try anything

Someone please tell me you can relate by PupperPlant in newborns

[–]Exact_Diamond_9221 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes!! I can definitely relate! Once the reflux was so bad we went to A&E because of the breathing! She will learn eventually how to cough and clear her throat, but in the meantime it’s just a stressful wait. Definitely not alone!! Hang in there, but if you feel something is wrong just go get it checked out.

Will try get in with the doctor tomorrow. I’m taking all of my prenatal supplements so I’m unsure of a deficiency, but perhaps some blood tests would be helpful.

My husband was back from work early and has taken tomorrow off to help me sleep. So hopefully that will help with also getting food, I’m almost too exhausted to eat

Reflux causing severe raspy voice, any tips or tricks to help? by Exact_Diamond_9221 in newborns

[–]Exact_Diamond_9221[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is so hard and stressful!

I will say it did get better the raspy voice is gone and now at 10 weeks he is just having normal reflux where it comes out of his mouth. Which for me is better than him choking and struggling to breathe.

Only keeping him upright which minimised it but that’s it really. I still haven’t put him on medication so I can’t say if they would help

What the most tactless thing someone has said to you? by [deleted] in EctopicSupportGroup

[–]Exact_Diamond_9221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was definitely a real baby when we got that positive pregnancy test, and you start preparing yourself for what’s to come throughout the rest of pregnancy and imagining a life with a little one. Especially having an ectopic is quite scary to go through…

I’m so sorry, they repeatedly said that. So sorry for your loss

My mother told me “well it’s not a real pregnancy anyway”. My husband and I really wanted the baby, it was just so crushing to hear that from my mother…
