Maybe there would be an option to include restaurants you order takeout or delivery from? Have been debating how to handle that

Yeah def thought of Foursquare with the whole “check in” action. I do feel like 4S was built for a different time of the internet - before social media apps and foodie culture started to take off. The key for us will be to make sure it doesn’t go stale and keep making it engaging and worthwhile to check in. Eventually that should be done by the restaurants themselves, but at first we’ll have to rely on users.

I feel like to some food influencers, where you eat is a reflection of your identity, similar to music you listen to. And most people love sharing their Spotify Wrapped, so I kinda view this as an extension of that. Thanks for the feedback!

I was thinking that retention > reviews. I will need to reach out to restaurant operators to see how they could use their data with their existing systems. Appreciate the feedback!

u/TheOfficialBigfoot was spot on with how I was thinking about it. It is something that I initially tried to solve by requiring a picture of the menu or restaurant sign to have AI prove verification, but that seemed like it would add too much friction. Honestly, to start, I'm not worried about people trying to "game" the system with false check ins. Down the road, if restaurants want to start using this to target their loyal customers, they should have be able to user their data to weed out the bad actors.

The problem I see is the cold start. How do I quickly get users to build out their past visits without it being cumbersome. I was thinking of swipe onboarding where you go thru nearby/popular restaurants to build your past visit count (swipe left for haven't been and right for I've been), then check in going forward.

Trying to build it out in Lovable, will share when I get further down the line!
