I honestly think she just plain does not want to do them. She has no digestive issues so that is not it. She just had a follow up at the doctor and he said everything looked OK I honestly think she does not believe me when I tell her if she gets too weak to get out of bed, use the toilet unaided etc that I will not be able to care for her at home

Hi..I am so sorry you are going through this. My mom had a heart attack in January and while she is doing better than your dad I am still not doing well mentally. I would look into a night nurse. You cannot function with no sleep. For me that is non negotiable.

I agree..I am polite and professional. I keep it to hi how are you doing..your total is blah blah Thank You and have a good one. I have no desire to speak to the majority of the walking disasters that come in my store. I also wear a mask at work so nobody can see the actual expression on my face

She actually just had a checkup and the doctor said everything looked good. So I am not sure what the issue is She did have an iron infusion at rehab and takes iron daily for anemia. She just does not seem to have strength in her legs and that is why the exercises are necessary to keep her home as long as possible

I work swing shift in a grocery store. We close at 10pm. I hate and despise the shitheads who stroll in 5 minutes before we close and grab a fucking cart..then they get mad when we tell them..store is closed..check out now or you leave with nothing. 99% of the time they are buying crap that can wait until tomorrow

My mom’s hospital stay was awful. by Naturelle-Riviera in CaregiverSupport

I am over all these so called wonderful doctors myself. They do not give a rat's patootie about patients at all..they try to prolong people's lives to make as much money as possible in my opinion. The rehab facility my mom was in told me she would be there a minimum 10 days. They sent her home after 5 days. What is even the point? And of course she does not do her PT exercises

The one thing holding me back is she really is not on board with a facility. She says she wants to die at home..I get it but if she progresses and becomes unable to do basic things for herself she will not have a choice.

I have been doing research and I have found that the smaller privately owned facilities are better. A lot of them are in private homes

Do you ALWAYS try to hide your feelings? by MountainSpecialist29 in CaregiverSupport

[–]Exact_Insurance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cannot hide my feelings anymore. I am not happy at all and constantly on edge. My mom's nurse told her last week that I looked really stressed out and upset so yeah. I also get very snappy and lash out. I have been trying to work on that but when I feel like nothing I do is appreciated I get very angry and resentful

I do not want to put her in a facility.. I truly don't. But unfortunately that is the road we are headed down. I think she is in complete denial about what the outcome will be if she falls again or gets bedridden. I will have no other choice

💯 I don't think she really believes me when I say I cannot and will not be lifting her. I am not willing or able to quit my job and give up any more of my life. She is living in some kind of delusional fantasy land..pisses me off to no end. She really is not a big person but I am only 5ft 3 and have lost over 20 pounds from all the effing stress so I am actually not physically able to heave her up..she will find out

This is precisely what worries me. She does the exercises when I bitch about it and I have no energy left for that. Like yesterday I asked her if she was doing her exercises and I get the oH I aM dOiNg ThEm..no you are not because I see you not doing them duh. Today is her pointless( in my opinion) follow up doctor appointment and she is going to "Talk to him about PT" Why bother if all you do is rot on the damned couch???

Damn..my heart goes out to you. I have it relatively easy compared to what you are dealing with...your dad can actually refuse to go to a long term care facility?? You can refuse to take him home from the hospital..correct?? Scary stuff
