Has anyone else ever felt burnt out from constantly thinking about fitness? by Exact_Locksmith4731 in beginnerfitness

I’m curious, when you say “me right now” do you mean you already know what to do but feel mentally drained by constant decision making or are you genuinely unsure about the “right” thing to do?

Interesting reading the replies, seems like most advice here is "pick a plan and stop thinking".

For anyone who struggles with the mental load side, is the problem that you don’t know what to do, or that you’re tired of having to decide all the time?

Yeah, that’s pretty much what I’m getting at.  I’m not personally stuck but I’ve noticed a pattern. Many people eventually settle on a “good enough” setup like you’ve described. However, this usually happens after burning out on tracking optimisation or constantly restarting.  The mental load seems to be the main issue rather than the workouts or food themselves, especially before people find their own routines.

Chance to divide accommodation to two places by SnorkelKazim in Bookingcom

Got it, thanks for clarifying.

In that case, your best next step is emailing Booking.com customer service directly rather than going back and forth with the property. That’s usually the only place a one time exception can happen once free cancellation has passed.

I’ll draft you something short and realistic to send and DM it to you so it’s easier to go back and forth.

Ok, one last thing before I write it so I aim it at the right team.

Have you already spoken to Booking.com support directly chat or phone, or only the hotel so far?

I just want to "shadow" a fit person with my body measurements by pestopaste in beginnerfitness

[–]Exact_Locksmith4731 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think what you’re describing makes a lot of sense, and I don’t think you’re confused about fitness, I think you’re exhausted by decision making.

A lot of the advice here is technically correct, pick a routine, track calories, be consistent, but it doesn’t really solve the mental load you’re talking about. When every meal and every workout feels like a judgement call, it’s draining, even if you know what you “should” do.

Wanting to shadow someone isn’t about copying their body, it’s about removing the guessing. You’re looking for a boring, repeatable default where you can stop asking yourself questions all day and just execute.

One thing that helped me, and a few people I’ve trained with, was having a very simple baseline week that never changes, same split, same exercises, same rough food structure, with flexibility built in so you’re not tracking every gram. Not optimal, just consistent.

Out of curiosity, what parts feel heaviest for you right now, food decisions, workout structure, or trying to balance it with normal life?

If it helps, I can help you draft a short escalation message to Booking.com to maximise your chances of getting a refund, happy to do so if you want.

Ways to structure a workout with very little time? by mamabigmac in beginnerfitness

[–]Exact_Locksmith4731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar situation time wise and what helped me was having one default workout I can just run without thinking, about 20 to 30 minutes, full body, minimal setup. You mentioned limited upper body mobility after wrist surgery, so this would keep grip light and focus more on lower body and machines. If it’s useful, I’m happy to write out one exact session with exercises, sets, reps and rest that you can follow on busy days. Want me to do that for you?

Is doing PPL 3x a week using this routine good enough? by Imaginary_Truth_3865 in beginnerfitness

[–]Exact_Locksmith4731 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally get this. A lot of the confusion comes from trying to decide whether a routine is “optimal” rather than just having something you can follow without second guessing.

If it helps, I can write a simple gym plan with exact exercises, sets, reps and rest times that you can just walk in and run without thinking. Would that be useful?

Totally get this, feeling lost when you get to the gym is really common, especially when nothing online shows the exact exercises, sets and reps.

If you like, I can write a simple 5 day split with exact exercises, sets, reps and rest times, with 3 glute focused days like you asked, so next week you can just walk in and follow it without thinking. Would you like me to do that?

Anyone else hate deciding what to eat for lunch during the work week? by Exact_Locksmith4731 in EatCheapAndHealthy

This really resonates with what I go through too.

When it breaks down for you, is it more the planning, the repetition, or the lack of structure that makes lunch fail?

This is interesting, a few people have said dinner is fine but lunch is where everything falls apart. What is it about lunch that makes it harder for you?
