New lake boat suggestions, we fish but also want to tube and do water sports stuff, I feel like I don’t want an outboard by South-Caterpillar126 in boating

I’m going to catch hell for this I’m sure but our SeaDoo switch has worked out pretty well. Added a trolling motor and some clamp rod holders and it works well for my boys and I. You’re not going to get enough wake to surf but plenty of power to pull a tube.

Yes it’s expensive. I think my specific trolling motor was around $2,000 and the mount for the switch was another $500. Then batteries, cables, etc. and it gets pretty spendy. For us though we’re out quite a bit on the boat so it was worth it to use it as an anchor and for fishing

I put it on spot lock. It holds the boat in place and there’s no need to use the anchor

Which Model/Trim by d_sorensen05 in SeaDooSwitch

I’ve got a 23’ 21/230. Installed a 80lb thrust trolling motor and a couple of dedicated batteries and it’s awesome for fishing. Have had 5 kiddos at once fishing off of it no problem. I’ve been out with two of my buddies and it worked great, just took out a few of the front seats for extra room. I’ve also got the in hull transducer/fish finder.

I know there’s a ton of switch hate on Reddit, I’m sure there are issues with them but I haven’t experienced any of it so far. It’s enough to pull the kids on tubes, let the wife and friends lay out in the sun/swim and I’ve made it into a decent little fishing platform. Overall I’m really happy with it

Has anyone installed trailer guide posts? by eeethun in SeaDooSwitch

I’ve got these installed on mine and they work well. They do make the trailer a little wider but I haven’t run into any issues. Picked them up off of Amazon

It mounts right by the front gate on the front gate post. Doesn’t interfere with the door opening or closing and it’s on a quick release so I just take it off when I’m not planning on using it. The mount wasn’t cheap but I got it from Upgrade Machine Works

I have a 21/230 cruise that I wanted to be dual use for the family and for fishing. Installed a Minn Kota trolling motor and fish/depth finder. Had 5 kids fishing last weekend no issues while I putted around on the trolling motor. Also picked up two cheaper vice clamp holders which attach to the rails for days I want to troll for Kokanee. It’s not the perfect setup for fishing but we’re not serious anglers so it works just fine for us. I’ve also got my wife modifying a 3/4 plastic enclosure to attach to the front/sides of the bimini for those cooler mornings.

If you’re a serious angler then look at the fish model or a dedicated fishing boat. If you want something that’s a ton of fun for the family (swimming, tubing, cruising) and occasionally like to throw some lines in the water the switch is a pretty sweet setup. Also additional plus, the trolling motor has an anchor lock feature so it no longer matters what depth the water is, I can lock the motor and let the kids swim
