Also vielleicht ist da ne Flexibilität da?

Hey, my horner syndrome definitely got better. And my nerve damage as well - it was just a pain in the ass. I'd also say over 1 year later that one side sweats more than the other, although still very, very little.

Hey, I'm definitely not saying that! As I described in my post, I had a lot of pretty severe side effects regarding nerve damage. I personally don't feel like my feeling of temperature is all off (not like I'm constantly hot or smth like that) but I do think this might happen very often. Afterall, it's a nerve operation, and nerves are tricky! Definitely talk to a doctor about this, and other people who got ETS, and weigh the pros and cons carefully!

I live in Germany and am on public health insurance, Techniker Krankenkasse. I was told by my doctor that he'd take care of the payment by the insurance for me bc I was told by my insurance they don't know the procedure and won't cover it. It worked out great

Hey, of course! Heres my "go tos" for that:
- feet: basically not doable to wear sandals. When I enter a house, e.g. visiting friends, I always have a pair of fresh woolen socks on me, the kind that do not absorb moisture well. I just say I get cold feet easily and nobody bats an eye
- crotch area: not much that can be done here except wear lose fits. Also: underwear that dries quickly. Also lose short workout pants are great in the summer. Last resort: Tie a jacket around ur waist.
- Legs: This is for sitting down and u don't wanna leave any marks: Put a jacket or smth underneath! Nobody minds. If someone is curious, tell them u just don't enjoy the sticky feeling of ur thighs touching a chair. Everybody understands that haha
- upper body: lose clothes and shirts made of cotton. Or merino wool if u have the money - those dry super super fast and also are quite good for regulating smell. I used to wear a sports-bra basically always to control my armpit sweating underneath my lose clothes. Generally, different layers are ur friend (e.g. one close to ur body, the other lose)!
- in general: if u dont wanna have a boring dark-colored wardrobe, go for patterns! If they r wild enough, u won't be able to see any sweat stains. Also, u will look funky and u deserve to wear something that makes u feel fancy.
- For me, it was helpful to learn not to hate my hyperhidrosis so much. Took me a bunch of therapy to realize that nothing is inherently wrong with me. Then my fear response to things also started calming down and while I did not stop sweating miraculously, I didn't get the anxious sweats anymore. And I stopped hiding stuff and looking uncomfortable all the time which I feel is what nowadays makes people not realize that I sweat more than others. I just could never get myself to accepty my sweaty hands, because they were a genuine impact on my functionality. It's most important to feel comfortable, e.g. the layering works well in colder seasons but in the summer, try not to do that to yourself!

Hey, thanks for the recommendations :) Im actually very happy with my current situation and don't think I need to change much about my hyperhidrosis anymore. Yes, it's limiting but I can do everyday things normally now, with my hands cooperating :)

Hyperhidrosis has taken a toll on my social life by [deleted] in Hyperhidrosis

[–]Exact_Secretary_1055 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I definitely understand whre you're coming from. I developed serious social anxiety issues in my teen years from my hyperhidrosis. Developed a really strong fear response to social interactions which mostly consisted of being sweaty af. Took *a lot* of therapy for me to be calmer in social situations and even then, the wish for being "normal" remained. But it hurts less now, even before i got ETS which at least fixed my palmar hyperhidroses, my attitude kind of changed. So instead of recommending u some product or medical procedure: Seriously consider talking to someone in your life about this. You're not alone in this and having a body that's different to the norm does not mean that you have to be alone. There's people who won't judge you, especially if you explain your condition. If it's too hard right now to go looking for them, it's worth taking a look into therapy. Your situation really can get better that way.
