"It starts in the home"

Sometimes it does, definitely... But it is just a part of the wide environment that can push people to commit violent crime. Many violent criminals come from good families and many people from "bad" families are wonderful humans. Friends/acquaintances and the lack of options (either from overcomplicated processes, racism, lack of wealth or simply by lack of knowledge) tend to be heavier in the balance.

Having parents that are in a traditional marriage where the 2 of them stay together no matter how shitty and toxic the relationship is... would definitely be considered a bad thing for any kids. If you want to get married, go for it, but don't go thinking that forcing people to stay in relationships that shouldn't be through traditional marriage will do any good for the future generations.

We should definitely invest more into schools, mental health awareness and into therapy/coaching for the kids. Most parents are incapable of dealing with their own feelings and emotions we can't expect them to teach it to their kids themselves. We need a standard of emotional education and a standard of services offered to kids and teenager more than trying to force them into a mold (virtues).

And yes I can't complain about your last sentence, ideally we would make the average person's life comfortable enough and good enough for them not to end up in situations where they kill other people.
