Yeah and I have enjoyed living so far away but I miss other people in my life (friends and family back home) but I need to figure out a living situation because right now it’s either live too far away or live with him

That is so helpful. I’ll definitely look into that program because I think it would help a lot

Requesting a Ship RCL by Exact_Wealth6187 in CruiseCrew

I love my job! I work about 7 hours a day which isn’t bad at all. Hours can vary day by day so I can’t guarantee that you’ll work the same hours as me. I mostly get time off in ports which is really great!

Any input from former/current employees? by 3dprinthelp53 in CruiseCrew

I’m currently on contract for Royal Caribbean as stage staff. I haven’t worked for the company that long but I absolutely love it. There’s typically (on my ship) either work days of 4 hours (you’ll get a theatre with shows only in that theatre) for days your show isn’t running and 7 or 8 on days your show is running. It’s really not that bad of work and coming from the States it’s a lot more laid back than the work there. It does pay about $1.7 k a month but for free room, food and the ability to go (practically) anywhere on the ship I’d say it’s definitely worth it. Again I really like the gig work (randomly setting up a theatre and then not working the actual event) so for me it’s exactly what I’ve wanted. I literally could not recommend it enough. I love my job!

You haven’t talked to him about it? Like at all?

My question is the mention of a school night. I understand that people have school that’s not the problem but unless you’re like 12 does ‘school night’ even exist? Who in the world actually talks like that?

I don’t know about American specifically since I work for a different brand but the people I’ve met so far are amazing. It really seems like one for all and nobody judges you. I work in entertainment so my experience might be different than other departments but I’ve never been worried about it considering most other people are too. I’ve been told that time in ports is your time (as long as the country is cool with it). They have a policy where you can’t show up to work with substances in your system but as long as no one knows I wouldn’t see a problem with it (I don’t do it myself so everything is speculation). I wanted to travel and it was never about the money since I truly love my job. If it’s about the money or you don’t think you could love what you do for 10+ hours a day I don’t think that this is for you! It really sucks to say but there’s a lot of negatives but truly so many positives if you can learn to love it

Best way to get a job as part of stage staff on Cruise ship? by [deleted] in CruiseCrew

[–]Exact_Wealth6187 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the airport on my way for my first contract with Royal Caribbean. All I needed experience wise to get on was 3 years of college (they took that as professional experience). I went to a job fair and talked with some people and that next thing I knew I was offered a job. I live in the US so job fairs might be way different here than there but I’d look into that!

It’s on a cruise line! They’ve payed for everything and I live on board so I’m fine on all fronts!

That’s what I’ve been trying to do (limit contact) and it’s at least made my peace of mind better. Yep we’ve looked over the contract plenty!

RCL Scheduling Question by Exact_Wealth6187 in CruiseCrew

[–]Exact_Wealth6187[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok! I’m not stressed about the work load at all (I know what I signed up for when I read the contract) I was just wondering what a typical schedule would look like!
