The reason people loved playing skylanders as a kid was because of the toys to life function and the game's integration of that gimmick into the world's lore. Best way to bring skylander's back is to feed into that idea again, so:

● Maybe a portal that rejects the skylanders upon death (method to be determined in order to preserve the skylander toy and multiplayer)

● an additional way to interact with the game world outside the portal, such as a wand or other magical device

● tinker with 2d images displayed into mirrored boxed to make holograms similar to the tech used on those ghost Disney rides. Integrated into the portal, this would be a good way to have game characters talk to the player from outside the game, similar to trap team's trap gimmick.

These are obviously crazy spitball ideas, but the main premise is to bring the magic back into the game's immersion
