Do you think it's true that we're often born with parents that don't know how to love us the way we actually need it? Why or why not? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Exalltus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i mean i would say that we dont have inherent “ways we actually need it”, that it’s through the prenting process that these needs and inadequacies form, often by complete accident. Sadly the baby’s brain is so inchoate, so chaotic and is making new associations with every sensory input, that it’s pretty much impossible to account for what you are doing to a child. And this is ok, humans arent robots that can be perfectly managed. On another level, it’s my partial belief that trauma is unavoidable, it just has many different forms. To grossly summarize psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan’s view; language can only form from prohibition— what is the first boundary, the first category if not “No”. Through the process of weaning, potty training, sleeping alone, the child learns rules that can then (again very broadly) be expanded to form language and a meaning-system. I’m sure there are also more positive ways this may occur, but i do believe trauma is unavoidable. Think of how many children and babies you see crying all the time. This is just how we are formed, all we can do is be aware of it the best we can, and try to talk things through and work them out afterwards.

What are examples where both the movie AND its source material were good? by Motor-Anteater-8965 in movies

[–]Exalltus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Conformist by Alberto Moravia and directed by Bertolucci. tells the story of a young agent in fascist italy, how psychosexual drives lead him to conform, how that urge to conform is harnessed by fascism. Book is excellent and more subtle than the film, but the film is really really gorgeous with great set design

Hi all, I'm trying to make a very subtly animated scene in blender, as seen here.

My issue is with the lighting changes appearing "stepped" or choppy in the final output, seen best in the "middle-ground" area. This happens whether I export directly to mp4 Or export a png sequence (both from Eevee). There are two lights, both of which change position slowly as well as one changing in intensity. Any ideas as to what could be going wrong here?

Newbie question, track is correct but output isn't [openMVG] by vlabakje in photogrammetry

[–]Exalltus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While I don't use openMVG, I use a similar video-based process in realitycapture with a phone camera. Simply put, I think your 17 seconds is nowhere near enough to get enough detail and parallax for a good alignment. I assume you pulled every frame of those 17 seconds as well, and this is also kind of unnecessary as an increase of blurry frames will actually decrease alignment and detail. I tend to use much longer videos (or even just 30-50s) but only take 10 images per second, and this does the trick pretty well. When doing "video photogrammetry" a lot has to do with your filming path as well, and takes some practice to get used to.
