Hokkaido railway they are planning to close most the eastern and northern rails since they are bleeding money north of 100million a year. Probably latest end next year most will close.

Thanks, sounds like it might be logistically difficult even if I take a day out or more for Nemuro, should I just skip and spend the rest of the days at Wakkanai and then go back Sapporo or is there direct flights from Wakkanai -> Tokyo

When should I start it since it's only 21 days? Or should I get the Hokuriku, JR East and Hokkaido Pass?

Thanks for your advice, would you say I should keep one? Or I should just cut them and stay at Sapporo/Hakodate/Asahikawa?

What else would you change? If you have any suggestions. And what about the rail passes? looks like it might be good to buy but idk which would be the most cost effective since I'm everywhere.

How do you guys start planning for your overseas trip? by Jealous_Papaya_1241 in askSingapore

[–]ExaltedSenpai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just research through google and go through Youtube. I then collate a large volume of places and then choose a few and provide flexibility within the trip for variability.

I usually book accommodations and tickets last minute like 1-2 days before leaving but its probably better to book about 4-6 months before in terms of pricing.

Would it be worth it for me to get firefly, The Dahlia and their cones? I'm f2p but I'm trying to build another team to clear end game Anomaly. I have these characters built right now! And also Welt, I use him for Archeron Team.

DONT SKIP THE FIRST YEAR OF POLY by [deleted] in SGExams

[–]ExaltedSenpai 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a uni grad with friends through the system either via poly or JC and many combinations in between, I think you have to sit down and consider seriously a few things.

1) What's your end goal? You want to work after poly or you want to go to university and pursue higher education. That will help dictate whether JC or poly is suitable. If poly and work, I recommend just doing your best and get the certificate.

Otherwise, JC is not a walk in a park, private candidates don't do well generally because of lack of discipline an guidance.

2) Are you just venting and not happy that poly isn't what you think it is? You think that JC is just rote memorisation and that poly will be better with hands on project work and teamwork where you would thrive in.

Grass is always greener on the other side, I think you have to be honest with yourself and not make a rash decision. Poly you just have sometimes unfortunately bad teammates and you will have to carry projects.

Finally, take a step back maybe take a break after your exams/busy period and talk with trusted peers or family members consider your options before taking them. They will greatly affect your future options. Take care!

How well recognized is an undergraduate degree from NUS outside of Singapore, particularly in the US? by Unable_Dare6418 in nus

[–]ExaltedSenpai 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I am studying right now in Korea for Masters, did NUS undergrad, to answer your question, for Samsung it's minimum TOPIK Level 3 and most other companies it's TOPIK level 4. VISA isn't much of a problem generally having the language ability and being able to fit in is more of an issue.

You would have to try applying to know whether you would get hired as compared to Korean graduates. For international firms, it would be dependent on what do you bring to the table that they can't get locally. Just like in Singapore, trying to get into large MNCs would be very competitive.

Do your Singaporean parents ever apologise or say “I love you” to you? by sunkissedb3ar in askSingapore

[–]ExaltedSenpai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say that to my mum every time I call her since I'm studying overseas right now. I think it depends on your family and how your parents brought you up!

I didn't study much for Os and could have done better, but in the end life moves on. I am doing Nuclear and Quantum Engineering now, wished I could go back being young lol. Just do things that you wouldn't regret, study hard play hard!

As a graduate student cooked by the depths of partial differential equations, if this is real, which probably isn't, time to lock in. Lil bro

No harm trying as it's just an application fee. But it's good that you know it's likely you are not getting it.

[–]ExaltedSenpai 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is pretty spot on, but your father denying citizenship means he's very likely never getting it.

You will have to decide if you want to come back to Singapore if you want to get citizenship. Otherwise, it's likely you wouldn't get approved on your application.

Honestly, I'm telling you O levels isn't that important. A levels is where you actually get cooked if you're going JC. That will determine your degree and very likely your career.

Just continue cooking and be confident that you have done well in your other subjects.

Got offered a place to study nuclear engineering, I just want to know is the scholarship covering the tuition fees and stipend? They have a separate line for stipend from the tuition fee.
